1: Killer of Sheep
Our first episode is about Killer of Sheep, a film written and directed by Charles Burnett. First shown in 1977 as Burnett’s thesis film at UCLA, it portrays the story of a working-class Black family living in Los Angeles’s Watts neighborhood in the 1970s and is considered one of the greatest American independent films ever made.
