294: Matthew 'Whiz' Buckley on Flying in Top Gun, Trading Options & Taking Psychedelics

Matthew 'Whiz' Buckley of Top Gun Options & No Fallen Heroes Foundation speaks with Sam about his many interesting lives! Buckley served in the U.S. Navy's elite "Top Gun" flight program (including on 9/11), then left the military to work in the financial markets. He really found his niche in options and made enough in the 2020 downturn to be independently wealthy. Around the same time as finding financial success, Matthew also discovered the healing power of psychedelics and their potential to help struggling first responders - this gave way to his No Fallen Heroes Foundation. Enjoy this interesting conversation on flying, drugs and trading options! Afterwards, Sam & Derek opine on why they haven't dug into options trading until just now thanks to a nudge from Buckley.
    About Matthew 'Whiz' Buckley:
Decorated F/A-18 Hornet fighter pilot, TOPGUN Graduate, and Wall Street CEO. He’s taking his experience going supersonic and applying it to Options Trading.
    Wall Street CEO
Served as the Managing Director of Strategy for a multi billion dollar volatility arbitrage firm and later became the CEO of a financial media company that rivaled CNBC

    Decorated F/A-18 Hornet fighter pilot,
Graduate of the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN).

Served during Operations Southern Watch, Noble Eagle, and Enduring Freedom, flying combat sorties over Iraq from USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Kitty Hawk.

292: Using A.I. To Manage Traffic with Parquery CEO Andrea Fossati

292: Using A.I. To Manage Traffic with Parquery CEO Andrea Fossati

There's a lot of buzz around A.I. and what the future holds... but what about its potential to change today's problems? All of us deal with traffic in our cars and there are A.I. systems already in place around the World helping to solve this issue. One such company is Switzerland based Parquery. Johnny speaks with CEO & Co-Founder Andrea Fossati to find out how they're able to help better control the flow of traffic both at intersections and in parking management. Then Johnny and Derek reflect on the good and bad traffic systems they've encountered around the world and how they'd execute Parquery's technology to optimize profitability.
    About Andrea Fossati:
Andrea Fossati co-founded Parquery in 2014 as a spin-off from ETHZ (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Zurich) and is currently its CEO. Parquery launched the first video-based Smart Parking Project in 2015 and is currently running 100+ Smart Parking and Mobility projects worldwide. Andrea Fossati received a Master of Science in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2005 and a Master of Science from the University of Illinois in Chicago in 2006. He completed his PhD at the Computer Vision Laboratory (CVLab) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL). Since 2010, he has been working as a postdoctoral scientist at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Zurich (ETHZ), where he has conducted research in various computer vision sectors and co-edited the book "Consumer Depth Cameras for Computer Vision", which was published by Springer in 2012.

291: Stem Cell Therapy and Alternative Healthcare

This episode may not be a financial investment for your wealth, but one for your health - which is arguably even more important! After Sam tried stem cell therapy for the first time on his knee, we decided to have an expert on the show to talk about this exciting alternative to traditional healthcare. Ryan Alling is the Co-Founder of Luxury Stem Cells, which specializes in catering to American patients and provided various stem cell treatments at their clinic just over the border in Tijuana, Mexico. Ryan and Sam talk about the many benefits of stem cells and struggles to bring them to the mainstream in the United States. Then, Johnny jumps in with Sam to talk about their personal experiences with stem cells and whether they'd want to try them in the future.

290: Generate Higher Passive Returns Selling Shareholder Voting Rights

290: Generate Higher Passive Returns Selling Shareholder Voting Rights

We dig into a new platform called Shareholder Vote Exchange (SVE) to unlock value in proxies you are issued for each individual stock you own. As far as we know, SVE is the first of its kind to take on this concept at scale, and this could be an easy passive way to earn extra returns on assets you already own! Derek interviews SVE Founder & CEO Preston Yadegar to find out how it all works and how the company can convert your unused votes into additional revenue. Then Sam and Derek convene on the concept and potential of this, plus throw in a little talk about wine as well (of course!).

Awesome guys and valuable insights

What I love most about you guys is that you also come from a non-investing trying to make sense of the complicated sounding investment jargon and then give tips for the normal person about it! Makes you guys very genuine and easy to listen to! My favourite podcast atm on the way to work here in Singapore!

Good podcast! ,
