Episode #8-with Advancing and Guest list Manager

Episode #8-with Advancing and Guest list Manager

Welcome to episode 8. We have reached the last episode for this season of My Own Lane, and I wanted to close it out by having someone I admire and have had the pleasure of working with. Elizabeth is a badass female killing it in event production and is the definition of what I call GOALS. As the Advancing & Guest List Manager with Made Events in New York, she is THE liaison between talent and their team and venues or festivals, meaning all of the event details are confirmed with her. Therefore, she receives artists' riders, guestlists, and she offers venue or event details like ticketing pricing and load-in and soundcheck times. She is the go-to person for venues such as the Brooklyn Mirage, Webster Hall, and Quantum Brooklyn. Since Made Events is responsible for one of East Coast’s popular music festivals Electric Zoo, you better believe she is in charge there too. Elizabeth knows and has close friendships with prominent EDM artists, but above all, she demonstrates why her skills and knowledge have taken her to different places and events outside of New York to work.

At the time of the interview, she was gearing up to work the first festival back from this ongoing pandemic, Ubbi Dubbi, in Texas. Since then, she has also worked the Sunset Music Festival in Tampa and welcomed events back at the Brookly Mirage, Webster Hall, and Quantum Brooklyn. With Electric Zoo right around the corner, she is preparing for the chaos that lies ahead on Labor Day weekend.

In this interview, we talk about her experience working in a male-dominated industry. Elizabeth gets candid and shares why it is important for her to use her managerial role to lead and uplift the next generations of event producers. And we touch on a few departments in event production you can tap into to get your foot in the door of live events.

Lastly, this is the first season; we have been out of work, quite frankly, rusty with our interviewing skills. Make sure to only show some love.   Thank you for getting this far.

Episode 6-with Morning Show Radio Producer, June Martinez

Episode 6-with Morning Show Radio Producer, June Martinez

Welcome to episode #6 of My Own Lane. This week’s guest is June Martinez, the sole-woman producer behind the now syndicated Stryker and Klein morning show. I wanted to bring June on board for this series because she’s a Latina working in radio and succeeding in one of LA radio’s longest-running radio station KROQ 106.7. She started as a promotions assistant and switched over to the programming department as a board operator. As a board operator, she was responsible for making sure the music programmed got aired accordingly, answering the radio listeners’ phone calls, and selecting contest winners for the on-air giveaways, among other things.

In this episode, June talks about what her professional journey has looked like thus far. Her path has not been an easy one. She talks about making personal and professional sacrifices to be where she currently is. We also dive in on mental health because, as I mentioned in the episode, she is open about her struggles and uses her platforms to bring awareness to her audience. Furthermore, we touch on other career-changing aspirations she has, once again proving to us that there are no limits to what one can do or when to start. I welcome you to tune in for this and much, much more.

Episode #3-with Digital Content Creator, Shannon Santos

Welcome to episode #3 of My Own Lane. My guest today is Filipino American digital content creator Shannon Santos. Before becoming the full-time Social Media manager for LA’s radio station, 97.1 AMP (97.1 NOW) radio, Shannon was a promotions assistant tapping in different areas that included artist hospitality, designing and creating content for the radio station’s social media platforms and website, proving she is a Shannon of all trades. While the pandemic came and altered her professional life, she did not let it knock her out. She has kept busy working independently as a photographer and helping small businesses improve their social media presence.

I welcome you to tune in as Shannon talks about how she’s navigated this pandemic. As a social media manager and digital content creator, she shares her insights and favorite social media platforms. She closes it out by inspiring us to celebrate the small victories when creating our own lane.
