    Katherine Smith, C'23 shares how she lives a life of significance through service. As a CORE leader and McGuire scholar on campus, she is heavily involved with service in and around the Mount community, leading trips and starting conversations about how to make a difference. 



    CORE is the leadership development program offered by the Office of Social Justice. It allows for undergraduate students who are committed to service and social justice to become trained student leaders who plan, facilitate, and lead the Mount community in the various service experiences.

    Interview with Amara Jerome

    Amara Jerome, C'21 shares her experiences as a CORE leader on campus. Within her four years at the Mount, she has volunteered with Special Olympics Maryland, built houses with Habitat for Humanity, and led day trips to Our Daily Bread, a soup kitchen in Baltimore.

    Semester of Service

    Semester of Service

    In this episode, Austin Flowers, Nathaniel Bald, and Tim DiRosa talk about the Semester of Service, a transformative service experience students at the Mount have the option of participating in. 

    Students are paired with organizations that match their majors and future career plans and complete 15 academic credits, which includes a 15-20 hour per week internship with a community partner. As they work on projects associated with their career plans, they also complete a course on the importance of service.

    Listen to Mariah Godde, C'21 as she shares her experience serving and how she juggles that with her busy schedule as a D1 athlete on the Mount's softball team. 

    Through her time spent as an athlete and in Campus Ministry, Mariah has learned the importance of engaging with those around her and what it truly means to be a part of a community.
