Housing Justice is finally in the news yet the voices of people with a disability are still absent from much of the discussion.This month the team revisit a program featuring stories from the group about living in institutions, group homes, squatting, SRS's and CRU's; and how we are now all living independently.  This week, Heather, Skye, Lisa and Steve have a conversation about their experiences as people with disability in the healthcare system. They talk about how they have been treated by doctors and other health workers, access to support and information about the different sections of the health system (which can be difficult to navigate), and also the cost of healthcare and lack of financial support. MusicWitch Doctor- David Saville

This month the team celebrates another year on air - 36 years on community radio!Amanda, James and Shona present a tribute show dedicated to self advocates who have passed away and the (wrong!) idea that people with disability can’t make radio shows.

Chris interviews self advocates Heather, Shona and James, who speak up about their experiences as people with intellectual disability with bullying and discrimination.  They talk about how these experiences of bullying and discrimination have affected them and share their ideas about what they think should change in the community, like the need for more disability awareness.  

Lisa, Larissa and Julie speak about living with a brain Injury (ABI).  Lisa, Larissa and Julie are all different but share a common experience of acquiring a brain injury.In this show, they challenge the so-called 'tragedy' of ABI, letting listeners know that living with an ABI is not a tragedy or inspirational. They also chat about the 'social model' of disability and the term 'inspiration porn'.They also discuss the isolation people with ABI often experience, and how self advocacy and connecting with others in the ABI and disability community can reduce this isolation.Image Artwork by: Larissa MacFarlaneMusic: Johnny Crescendo Choices and Rights
