    Show 337. Steve Rotheram

    Show 337. Steve Rotheram

Liverpool's Metro Mayor is standing for a third term on 2 May. He's already led a fascinating life, starting out as a bricklayer, then being an MP and Jeremy Corbyn's PPS before becoming the Metro Mayor for the city he loves.
Steve is a big personality and this goes way beyond the usual boundaries of politics. This is about how people feel about places and how places feel about themselves.
Plus who has the better music... Liverpool or Manchester?
    (Manchester, obviously)

    Show 335. Gloria De Piero

This is so much fun, you won't want it to end.
Gloria De Piero brings politics to life in a way very few people are able to.
Totally honest about why she'd never want to be an MP again, what working at GB News is really like and why she's dedicated to Labour even when the party hasn't valued her.
It's got everything: Lee Anderson, pina coladas and P&O cruises.
You'll want to listen back to it all over again.

Unique political podcast

This podcast is like no other. In times of great division and general mistrust of politicians it’s great that Matt Forde welcomes politicians from all parties. While the interviewing style is uncompromising (see Lisa Nandy interview where he framed the same question about 8 times to obtain a satisfactory answer) , he allows the politicians to speak in full and the listeners can’t fail to develop empathy for the interviewee.
I would especially urge listeners to search the archives for politicians they dislike or lack respect for. The Jacob Rees-Mogg podcast was one of my favourites.
Finally, huge Kudos to Matt Forde for being non-partisan and without any agenda or dogma.

Informed, open-minded, intelligent and properly funny

This show is a real treat for politics nerds, with a host who boldly interviews experts and political players from all stripes. It’s a fresh take from someone being just really interested in how it all works (or doesn’t, sometimes). Fair warning that the interviewees aren’t for everyone, personally I left the Darren Grimes Interview still thinking he was a right t***. But fair play to Matt Forde for asking bold questions and making it really compelling.

Politics and comedy together?

You’d have thought it was impossible at the moment, but the format really works. With guests from both extremes of the political landscape, the conversation stays free flowing and upbeat.
