World of Wongie podcast Wongie

So the WoW podcasts are gonna be a semi-regular thing now! Outside of the film festivals that I attend, I'll be posting whenever there's some interesting stuff to talk about as I experience them myself.

Recently I was invited to visit A Ghost Store in conjunction with the wonderful movie A Ghost Story (dir: David Lowery) and was surprised to see the director there checking out the surreal shop that custom makes Ghost sheets for you to inhabit. I grabbed him for a few minutes and tried not to fanboy him too much since I was a big fan of the movie.

We did manage to talk about our mutual love of the Hirokazu Koreeda classic film Afterlife, David's favorite shot from the movie (cause it sure is beautiful to look at) and his beliefs on death itself. All that in 4 mins yo!

It's Wongie's last day at the Cannes Film Festival and even though it's his last official podcast recording on premises of the biggest film fest in the world, he still manages to discover some gems about the fest.

Final Day: Wongie talks to the amazing Didier Allouch, correspondent to Canal Plus but also the official red carpet interviewer at the Cannes Film Festival. Wongie and friends find themselves at the almost tail end of the Cannes Film Festival and there's still some wonderful insider intel about attending the biggest film fest in the world!

Day 7: Wongie bumps into fellow NYC journalist and US programmer for the Venice Film Festival Giulia D'Agnolo Vallan, and talks about choosing movies for film festivals as big as Cannes and Venice, the pressure of finding movies that will find award season glory and how she went from journalist to a programmer for Venice Film Festival.

Then Wongie catches up with German journalist Patrick Heidmann and gets intel on his fave film of the fest (and it's not in competition!), plus what it's like for a journalist at the tail end of it all.

Day 7: Wongie grabs Belgium journalist Ward Verrijcken for a talk about finding a semblance of normalcy at a crazy film festival, their picks for fave critical / emotional / fun film so far and what it's like to interview this years very prolific star Nicole Kidman. Plus Wongie adds a quick post script about award winning director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's amazing VR experience "Carne Y Arena" which took place in an airport hanger 30 mins away from the festival!

Day 6: Wongie talks to Belgium journalist Lieven Trio about socializing at Cannes Film Festival and his fave films of the fest so far. Then with Fandango/Filmstruck's Alicia Malone the three discuss the highly buzzed about new film 'The Killing of a Sacred Deer' by Yorgos Lanthimos and how this filmmaker is fast becoming one of the best directors in the world today.

Then Wongie drops by the suite of atelier Georges Hobeika as he dresses celebrity interviewer / instagram star Raya Abirached choosing a red carpet look for the Cannes Film Festival 70th anniversary event.
