Dr. Julie La Barba is a board-certified pediatrician and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and The
University of Texas Long School of Medicine.

Growing up in an Italian produce family taught Dr. La Barba the
value of fresh food and the power of gathering families in the
kitchen. This fostered her professional commitment to childhood
nutrition and public health advocacy for the underserved.
From public health roles as lead health consultant for the H-E-B
Body Adventure Exhibit to founding Medical Director of CHEF
(Culinary Health Education for Families) at The Children’s Hospital
of San Antonio, she empowered families to make delicious,
satisfying meals with affordable ingredients that won’t break the
bank or require gourmet cooking skills.

A wife and mother of 4, she currently hosts the Paging Dr. Mom
Podcast for moms in medicine who feel like they’re on call 24/7
regardless of their work arrangement. With guests ranging from
doctors and coaches to chefs and authors she hopes to create a
community of women lifting each other up one actionable step at a
    time.
In this episode, we discuss her path into medicine and the different ways she has made a difference. Along the way, despite her love of medicine she has determined that medicine will not love you back.
Always on the lookout for wonder, she discusses her resets and lessons where she is clear on her priorities and where she wants her impact to be.
Listen in for some laughter and deep insight like "the prize for a pie-eating contest is more pie." I won't reveal the other nuggets scattered throughout!

Dr. Nahille Natour - "Keeping an Open Mind"

Dr. Nahille Natour - "Keeping an Open Mind"

Join us today as we listen to Dr. Nahille Natour, a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) whose passion is to inspire her clients to achieve balance in their lives.  She serves professionals who are looking to transform their lives, careers, businesses, and relationships.  As a board-certified OB/GYN, she has experience in many practice settings and has personally and successfully worked through physician burnout.

She shares her story of burnout and how coaching helped her to define her career goals and pivot in her career to a job as a hospitalist OB/GYN that ultimately allowed her boundaries between her professional and personal life that have been welcome.  During that journey she also explored and has become a very active and successful coach for other physicians.

She reminds us of several pearls on today’s episode:

    - Three keys to balance include defining your priorities and values, nurturing your relationships to help fill your cup, and allowing for time for personal growth, reflection and rest.

    - It’s okay to make your career what you want, keep an open mind and make change where possible if it isn’t meeting your goals.

    - Know that there is a way to get “unstuck” if you are feeling unfulfilled.
