Extremely intentional would love more questioning of wider cultural norms
Thanks so much for all the time, energy and hard work that goes into this podcast and for keeping this shared expertise available to all. I’ve benefited so much from your wisdom, not only in content, but in how you communicate and intentionally shape the learning for the listener.
One aspect I would love to see developed more is that with some guests, in my view there is a lack of troubling of the social water we are in, and there can be a sense that we are being taught how to be a good Christian capitalist, without enough analysis of where the ‘water’ we are in is normalised but deeply unhealthy and unhelpful for human flourishing. At times there should be a greater emphasis on challenging the wider norms not just thriving within them, being careful how we define success. As a doctor and social pediatrician, my view is that this would help listeners cast a greater vision not only for their business but for society as a whole. Currently, too many fundamental human needs are being suppressed by cultural drives for more and the fear of not meeting society’s definitions of success (especially in childhood - for example USA’s normalisation/ economic need enforced rapid return to work and hustle after becoming parents), which risks significant challenges to human development, well-being and health, let alone many of the interpersonal, identity and executive function leaning topics addressed in this podcast.
Whilst of course straying too political would be a huge distractor and not the intention of my comment, helping listeners better understand the normalised/invisible water they swim in could be really helpful.
Thanks again for always bringing so much to think about and action!
I really needed the July episode
I really needed to hear this today. It’s as if you did it just for me. I’ve been struggling to get my business going and today I heard exactly why that is. You have this amazing talent for turning what the Bible says into real life situations that are so relevant to my life. It’s so uncanny, it’s as if you know me, as if you live next door to my Mum and you talk over the garden wall all the time (she loves a good chat). Thank you and may the Lord bless you and keep you safe and doing what you do for a long time to come 🙏🏻😊
