Lost Hills investigates the dark side of Malibu, California. Beneath a seductive facade, this city of billionaires, celebrities, and surf bums is hiding something menacing. On September 16, 2009, 24-year-old Mitrice Richardson was arrested by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for failing to pay her bill at a restaurant in Malibu, CA. After being released from Lost Hills Station shortly after midnight, she disappeared. Eleven months later, her naked, skeletal remains were discovered in a canyon some six miles away. For nearly 15 years, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Mitrice’s friends and family, and generations of internet sleuths have tried to crack the case. To this day, her death remains an unsolved mystery. The truth lies in the remote Malibu community where Mitrice was last seen. And now, finally, people are starting to talk. Hosted by Dana Goodyear (The New Yorker) and produced by Western Sound and Pushkin Industries. Show artwork copyright Francesca Gabbiani. Remarkable research and story telling. Dana and her team truly put themselves in some hostile and sensitive situations in order to produce a world class podcast. Gripping and bingeworthy.

Listened to all three seasons. Brilliant ! Look forward to the next one!
Pointless monologues
6 Aug
Some episodes are completely irrelevant and off topic, random people telling stories about their lives as air hostess meeting random celebrities- it’s insignificant or at least could be condensed to 2 mins. Same with Rob Lowe going on about life in Malibu - needs to be more concise!!
Listen to season 3 ignore the others

I listened to series backwards starting with 3 which had a unique and interesting narrative. Series 2 was quite a bit of nothing. But season 1….. oh dear, a very biased piece, interviews with people with agendas and for want of a better word, crackpots. One crazy lady proclaims she’s a journalist with a fake press pass - its not clear why we have to listen to her opinion for nearly two episodes. Stick with season 3.
