[Replay] Weight Loss Begins With Self-Acceptance
Hey everyone! This epsiode was probably one of the top 3 episodes that I got positive feedback from, so I am reposting it! If you have already heard it, I think its even worth a re-listen!
In this episode, we discuss the idea that true weight loss begins with self-acceptance. Many people believe that the key to weight loss is simply eating less and exercising more, but this narrow view ignores the underlying emotional and psychological factors that contribute to weight gain.
We explore the concept of treating ourselves with kindness and compassion when it comes to our bodies and our weight.
We discuss the importance of developing a healthy relationship with food, rather than viewing food as a source of comfort or punishment. We also talk about the benefits of mindfulness and self-compassion in weight loss efforts, and how to move away from a focus on perfection and self-criticism and towards a more positive, accepting attitude towards oneself.

Great podcast
Such a good podcast if you want to slowly and sustainably lose weight I’m maintaining a 45 pound weight loss and this really helps
Really great podcast
Maggie is very honest and down to earth in sharing her own lived experience of dieting, how past trauma affects not just diet/food but also navigating through daily life and recovering. The show is so relatable and her advice makes so much sense. She’s clearly doing her work. I also find helpful that the advice given can be from a cognitive perspective - for instance forming new habits or psychology such as the behavioural aspects of overeating, weight loss or relationships with food. This appears to stem from the research she’s done as she’s worked her way through her own stuff and therefor is passing it on to those of us who find it useful. I listen to the podcast every Friday now. Ryan seems cool too!
Best Podcast for emotional eating
I absolutely love this podcast. I’m in the UK and stumbled across Maggie’s clips on Tik Tok. So refreshing that in her Podcasts she not only helps you unpick what is actually going on with your thinking, in plain language, but provides solutions, again in plain language. Her husband also provides great insight. I really enjoy listening to both of them and highly recommend if anyone is struggling with yo-yo weight issues or disordered eating. Can’t wait for the app to be available.
