Coaching as a Career Option for Military Leavers

In today's episode we are talking all about coaching as a career option for military leavers. We wanted to talk about this for a number of reasons which we will outline but also because both of our husbands are former military personnel and we are registered with ELCAS which provides funding opportunities. So let's discuss why coaching could be a great fit for military leavers.
    We will discuss:
how coaching could fit into the lives and careers of people who are used to military service the investment already made in leadership skills in the military matches so well with coaching as a leadership skill  how you can make your CV understandable to non military people ways you can step out of the military with confidence and enjoy the change why transitions are a common theme amongst our coaching trainees
Military personnel bring so many qualities to the world of coaching and for anyone wanting to make the transition we encourage you to get in touch with us. We are happy to talk to you to discuss further how a career in coaching could work for you.

    Homework for Coaching Clients

    Homework for Coaching Clients

In this week's episode we are talking about something we get asked about a lot in our group, whether or not to give homework to your clients. This can be individual to each coach and we would love to bring to you some thoughts around this topic and what impacts it might have.

    We discuss:
what actually is homework? the difference between coach set homework and client chosen homework how we can support out coachees to achieve their coaching outcomes when it might be appropriate to give homework the importance of contracting and boundaries how you can bring curiosity to sessions where homework has not been completed what are some of the pitfalls around assigning homework Assigning homework will always be a personal choice for each coach and may well only be relevant to some clients. In general though we ask you to consider what the reasons are for assigning homework and whose outcomes do they truly meet. As a coach it's important to be clear and purposeful when we ask our clients to take actions. How have you explored the idea of giving homework and how effective have you found it to be?

    Conversation Structures in Coaching

    Conversation Structures in Coaching

In today’s episode we are talking about how you can structure your coaching conversations. One of the reasons we’re talking about this today is that when people start coaching they want to learn tools and structures and as you develop as a coach you might start to think about what you can and can’t say to your clients in your sessions.

    We talk about:
What makes a coaching conversation different from a normal conversation? What structures are available to you? The unlearning process when practising coaching conversations as an established coach Can intuition play a role in coaching conversations What is the difference between coaching the story and coaching the person How to have solution and future focussed conversations
Coaching conversations develop over time and having a structure ensures that you and your client have a container that feels safe. We would love to hear what conversation structures you use and how you keep the discipline of holding your coaching conversations in the place they need to be.

Listen every week

It’s one of my go to podcasts. I’ve been subscribed since it launched and listening every week. I started the ILM level 5 coaching course in February. Some episodes I’ve repeated several times and even referenced them in my assignments. I’ve recommended the podcast to my peers on the course too. The episodes are very accessible with some great hints, tips and advice. The episode lengths are perfect. Most importantly they’ve helped develop my skills and confidence in how to approach coaching sessions. Episode 45 in particular has stuck with me, helping to decide when to “let the coachee drive” and when it might be right to “lean in” a bit more….

Totally found my people

Oh wow, a fellow coach recommended these fabulous ladies to me and I’ve hopped on feel like I’ve landed in Narnia… in last 24 hours I’ve binged most of the episodes whenever I had the chance as the content is so helpful, authentic, and relevant to me while I grapple with some internal coaching demons setting up in business … I feel I’ve found people that really understand where I’m coming from and instantly felt supported without even meeting them! Thank you so much ladies this podcast and your whole business concept is a game changer! Melanie Matthews Hummingbird & Heart xx

Tea girl at Joanne's ,

Bite size expertise

Zoe and Jo bring their bubbly, knowledgable expertise to every episode and address the issues and questions I have as a new coach. Accessible, professional and enjoyable.

Congratulations on your milestone and thank you for your commitment to the profession.
