Supporting parents who have lost a child that was a twin, triplet or multiple: Millie and Heather from The Skye High Foundation | S3E31

The loss of a child is an unimaginable pain, and losing a baby who is a twin, triplet, or multiple is an incredible grief that hugely affects families. Our two guests today, Millie and Heather, went through that impossibly hard situation themselves, and together are growing the Skye High Foundation into something that will one day be seen in every hospital around the world. They created the purple butterfly cot card, which is to be placed in an incubator or cot in memory of their sibling. The cot card is used in conjunction with a poster that is placed around maternity and neonatal units, which explains the meaning of the purple butterfly. The cot card allows families the opportunity to make others around them aware of the journey they are going through. If you would like to get support from them or help spread the word, all the links to connect with them can be found in the show notes for this episode. In this episode, we’re chatting about: Millie’s story in creating the Skye High Foundation and how Heather got involved too What the Skye High Foundation does to support parents who have lost a multiple Acknowledging milestones and your grief without overshadowing your surviving children What you can do to support someone who is going through the loss of a multiple and what you can try to avoid saying The significance of the purple butterfly and why Skye High Foundation wants them in every hospital in the world 💌 Check out the full show notes for this episode here, where you can find timestamps, a transcript and any links or resources we think are relevant to this episode.
