In this episode we talk about “THE HEALING POWER OF WELLNESS: A SELFCARE TOOL FOR YOU!” And GLOBAL WELLNESS DAY 2024. In this episode, we delve into the theme #MagentaNature and its significance for Global Wellness Day 2024. We  discuss how connecting with nature can positively impact physical, mental, and spiritual health, as well as the transformative potential of incorporating wellness practices into our daily lives. Join us as we explore the mission of Global Wellness Day, the importance of the #MagentaNature movement, and the ways in which individuals can prioritize their well-being.We also talk about the 7 steps meant to be for everyone regardless of one’s socio-economic background. They are intended to build bridges to further health and wellness communication, education, and understanding.  Walk for an hour.     TITA TALKS WITH ELISABETTA "BETTA" CARACCIA. This episode of Tita Talks, features Betta, a Mother of 3, anthropologists, environmentalist and advocate of social awareness and global consciousness. As a valued member of the Advisory Council of the Ibiza Preservation Fund she keeps busy to preserve Ibiza and Formentera’s exceptional beauty and nature. Recently Betta lost her life partner Ray Stevenson (25 May 1964-21 May 2023), the worldwide renowned actor who performed in the iconic Star Wars series Ahsoka portraying Baylan Skoll, and also portrayed two Marvel Comics characters Frank Castle / The Punisher in Punisher: War Zone (2008) and The Super Hero Squad Show and Volstagg in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (2011–2017), and more. They met when Ray was in Rome, Italy while portraying Titus Pullo in the BBC/HBO hit television series Rome (2005–2007). Betta and Ray loved to travel extensively. Yet, during the COVID-19 Pandemic they spent more time in their home in Ibiza, Spain surrounded by the sea and sunshine. However, prior to returning to filming, Ray had caught Covid and his health was never quite the same and he passed away on May 21, 2023. In 2021, Betta and Ray founded La Curandera de Salinas in Ibiza, Spain. Betta and I discuss how Betta has been working toward healing her heart and home since Ray perished unexpectedly and the importance of selfcare practices that support resiliency and strength.     It is a great privilege and pleasure to Welcome BACK DAVID SKINNER from Ottawa, Canada. David is the President of the INTERNATIONAL SELFCARE FOUNDATION (ISF). He is passionate about selfcare - for more than 30 years he served as President of Consumer Health Products Canada and as a Board Director for the Global Self-care Federation. And in this episode we discuss, THE HEALING POWER OF WELLNESS: A SELFCARE TOOL FOR YOU!” and INTERNATIONAL SELFCARE DAY 2023.

    Selfcare is defined as the practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own wellbeing and happiness. It is the ability of individuals, families and communities to promote health, prevent disease, and maintain health. Good health is our most prized possession that can generate a positive mindset of confidence, enthusiasm, strength and joyfulness.

    The World Health Organizations has stated that selfcare “encompasses hygiene (general and personal); nutrition (type and quality of food eaten); lifestyle (sporting activities, leisure, etc.); environmental factors (living conditions, social habits, etc.); socioeconomic factors (income level, cultural beliefs, etc.); and self-medication.” At the National and individual level, the WHO believes that supporting selfcare interventions has the potential to: strengthen national institutions to maximize efficient use of domestic resources for health; create health sector innovations; and improve access to medicines and interventions through optimal interfacing between health systems and sites of health care delivery. 

    We talk about selfcare knowledge and literacy as relates to communicating this message to as many people possible and the importance of the "Seven Pillars of SelfCare" developed by the International SelfCare Foundation which provides a useful framework and starting point for anyone looking to improve their health and wellbeing and to promote selfcare as a vital foundation of health. David shares with us that in honor of INTERNATIONAL SELFCARE DAY 2023 (ISD), celebrated the 24 of July each year, the theme is Selfcare For All by 2030 with a focus on their first two pillars - selfcare knowledge and literacy and mental wellbeing! INTERNATIONAL SELFCARE DAY 2023 (ISD) provides a focus and opportunity to raise the profile of healthy lifestyle selfcare programs around the world. We walk through the ISF's Seven Pillars of Selfcare and discuss Wellness World's 4 pillars of a healthy lifestyle: exercise, nutrition, rest/healing, mindfulness/meditation. Furthermore, David and I talk about his daily Wellness routine and the Selfcare tools that he uses on a daily basis.

    Science based evidence shows that the more Wellness and Selfcare tools and techniques you have, and the more positive daily habits you embrace then the more you not only learn about yourself and what works best for you in your life, but the better life you will live! It is about empowering yourself with the skills to live a happier, healthier, and more harmonious life. I share an excerpt from my book Sonia's Ring: 11 Ways To Heal Your Heart,“Physical and spiritual wellbeing is necessary for life and growth. It is what helps to keep us alive, maintains and nourishes love, faith, hope, perseverance, compassion, and kindness. All of this is available for you—so reach out and grab what is yours.” 


    We discuss the importance of emotional intelligence as relates to selfcare and much more and in closing he shares a special message that he wanted to make sure we communicate and share with our worldwide audience.

Dance is defined as, “the movement of the body in a rhythmic way, usually to music and within a given space, for the purpose of expressing an idea or emotion, releasing energy, or simply taking delight in the movement itself.” My Mother was a ballerina, and I have been surrounded by dance all of my life so this theme resonates with me on a very personal level. In this episode we discuss what inspired the theme #DanceMagenta for Global Wellness Day 2023, and Belgin elaborates on, “Dance is the universe moving within you. To dance is to free yourself and be one with the world. Dancing is getting away from stress, exercising your body and spreading happiness at the same time.” She also discuss how the #dancemagenta theme represents physical movement as well as spiritual connectivity and Belgin and I review the 3 steps she has delineated for #dancemagenta including: Dance With Your Body, Dance With Your Thoughts, and Dance With Life.

Jessica has been engaged with Art for most of her lifetime and has over thirty years of international experience working in New York, London, and South Africa sourcing art for VIP collectors; selling important entire collections; identifying and promoting emerging artists; curating art exhibitions and carrying out luxury cultural travel with entree to private collections for small groups. She started her journey at Sotheby’s New York where she was the Director of Public Programs and created educational experiences for collectors in art, fashion, jewelry and more. After Sothebys Jessica then established her own business called Arts to Life which expanded her original Sotheby’s programs from North America to taking collectors and cultural enthusiast to countries around the world and showing them through art the past-taking them on an historical journey and promoting craftsmen, artisans and luxury trades that preexisted from 19th Century England, France, Italy and Portugal to the present. Most recently after living in South Africa for 3 years, Jessica has focused on Contemporary African Art and currently, she is hopeful and excited to be working with a NFT Gallery in London which just opened a gallery space in New York City. A year ago she was diagnosed with cancer. And in this episode, we are talking about "THE HEALING POWER OF ART: A SELFCARE TOOL FOR YOU!" and Jessica’s personal story.In the presence of art, we may experience inspiration, wonder, and even hope; it can spark our imagination, creativity, and thinking. It can inspire us to feel empathy, joy, and our internal awareness and capacity for transformation can expand through experiences with art. Scientific research has demonstrated how people benefit from exposure to art. Moreover, there are social prescription programs in which doctors prescribe museum visits, art classes, and so forth. Art is healing because it forces you to forge a connection between your mind and your body. Art is healing because it connects humanity with humanity. Jessica elaborates more on, “central to all of her work is the belief that art is important to life and that art can heal.” Jessica tells us about her healing journey from when she was diagnosed with cancer to what she did to heal with the art around her, we talk about her daily wellness routine and selfcare tools, and much more.
