🧬 Brand DNA #1: The two things your brand needs to see results

I am celebrating reaching my 70th episode with a new mini-series called Brand DNA! I'm really excited to dive into this because we are exploring the strategic side of brand building, and how you can implement and apply this to your own business. I do feel like this is one of the biggest things that people miss when it comes to building their brand, they just go for it without much thought or strategy. I believe that the strategic side can ultimately make or break a brand, so that is what we are going to cover in this series. Let’s get into it!
What I cover in this episode:
How I define Brand DNA and what it means to meThe power of your brand’s uniquenessSome things that I don’t agree with when it comes to traditional brand archetypesWhat to focus on to find your brand’s unique DNAJoin the waitlist for The Brand Lab here.

What strawberry matchas and brand building have in common 🍓

What strawberry matchas and brand building have in common 🍓

Two months ago, I fell in love with this strawberry iced matcha. I had seen an influencer post a photo of their drink from Matcha Therapy here on the Gold Coast where I live. It was the most aesthetic drink I have ever seen in my life and the branding was super cute on the cup. These first encounters with the brand lead me to drive 25 minutes from my house to try this strawberry matcha, and it was worth it!  When it comes to building your brand, being able to hook the right people in from the start is so important. This is where considering your touch points is essential, and is exactly what I’m diving into today.
What I cover in this episode:
How Matcha Therapy’s brand experience hooked me in so stronglyCurating an amazing and memorable customer experienceThinking about your brand’s top touchpointsBuilding brand loyaltyGet instant access to my Audience Attraction Masterclass here.

Getting into your audience's brain 🧠

Getting into your audience's brain 🧠

I have a different way of going about target audiences, and it has differed as I've moved through my business. Now I focus on more of the mental side. The feelings, thoughts and emotions that my ideal clients are going through, along with their dreams for their lives. I believe that this is a more powerful way to attract your audience than by identifying their age, location and what they like to do on the weekend. We want to know that stuff, but this is not what's going to connect you with your audience on a deep level.
What I cover in this episode:
The challenge of knowing your audience when you have a small followingWhy you need to know your audience and understand them on a deep levelConducting interviews with potential customers to tap into their mindHow you can incentivise them to participate in these interviewsGet instant access to my Audience Attraction Masterclass here.

You're playing small with your brand 👀

You're playing small with your brand 👀

Stop playing small with your brand. And what I mean by this is, stop half-arsing it. This is going to be a tough love episode because I see way too many business owners who don't take their own brand and business seriously. At the end of the day you do you, but if you have a really big dream and vision for your brand staying small won’t get you there. Fear is completely normal but letting that fear control you and stop you from taking the steps that you need to take to build your brand up won’t get you the life of your absolute dreams. This is why I am such a big believer in building your brand the right way, because that's actually going to help you.
What I cover in this episode:
The fears that are likely holding you backMoving past hobby-level resultsIdentifying where you are playing smallOvercoming your fears to get closer to your dream life---

Stop trying to be different (you’ll want to hear this)

Stop trying to be different (you’ll want to hear this)

This is potentially controversial. Stop trying to be different. This goes for all business owners because your branding does not need to be totally different to everyone else. When I started designing, I was taught that your brand needs to be 100% unique to you - which is true to a point. It needs to be unique to your business, to your brand, and it needs to represent you. However as time has gone on and I have worked with many clients, I have done lots of strategy work. I have seen results in my clients' businesses, in my own business and I've seen the industry change. So my opinion has shifted - I actually now believe that it is okay to have similar branding to another business.

What I cover in this episode:
Knowing your audience and who you are speaking toWhy standing out needs to be your second priority when it comes to brandingWays to set yourself apart when your colours being similar to your competitorsPositioning yourself through your messaging and contentGet instant access to the Audience Attraction Masterclass here.
