    From Fashion to Food: An Interview with Restaurateur Karin Farrell

    In today’s episode of Cooking Culture and Everything In Between, I talked with restaurateur and my second cousin, Karin Farrell! Karin has spent most of her life working in the culinary business. Most recently, she has been working in her restaurant, Kitchen Sync, alongside her husband, John Farrell and her brother, Kevin Feeny. Kitchen Sync is located in Greenville, South Carolina and opened in 2016. In 2018 they won America’s #1 Independently-Owned Green Certified Restaurant and #1 for Water Conservation from the Green Restaurant Organization. Kitchen Sync also has a program called the Kitchen Sync Stewardship or KiSS. Through this program they raise money to support their local community! Karin has also spoken out for women as executive chefs. During our interview, we discussed all of this and more! Thank you very much for listening!

    In today’s episode, I interviewed lawyer, food historian, and James Beard Foundation Book Award winner, Adrian Miller. Mr. Miller has worked in the White House and written 2 books on black history and soul food. His books, “Soul Food” and “The President’s Kitchen Cabinet” focus on African American history and contributions to US history. We discussed everything from the difference between soul food and southern food to Denver restaurant recommendations. Enjoy!
