    SOFIA report 2024: Aquaculture has surpassed capture fisheries

    For the first time, aquaculture has surpassed capture fisheries in the production of aquatic animals, according to the 2024 edition of the State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture (SOFIA) report. This trend in the aquatic sector is a promising path towards addressing food insecurity. Manuel Barange, Assistant Director-General and Director of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Division at FAO, discussed the latest findings and trends in the aquatic sector and its role for food security and nutrition.

    Students from different countries and cultures unite to call for water action for food through song and dance in the multilingual music video "Water is Life, Water is Food". This song inspires young people to become change-makers and advocates for a more water-secure world.

    Students from Cuba, Egypt, Ireland, Italy and Rwanda unite to spread a powerful call for action through song and dance in the multilingual music video ‘Leave no one behind’. The song focuses on inclusivity and equality, staying informed, respect food through healthy food choices and reducing food waste, care for our planet, compassion and much more.
