"I began photographing Sophia, my fiancee, in 2018. There is no setup or particular story involved when I am working with her. The pictures are of her relationship with me, with her family, with her homeland, and with herself. Her story is common, universal. This is simply a slice of the migration that takes place around the world, of those struggling to overcome their past and pursue their beliefs and passion to live a normal life. Though usually intertwined with cases of refugees or workers traversing borders, I have chosen to focus on another aspect of migration; one that is more psychological and takes place within the individual, as well as an actual physical journey as well."

-Alex Fitch, a documentary photographer from Beirut, Lebanon speaks about his piece on Provoke Papers. In this podcast he delves deep into key topics surrounding the theme of Migration with none other than his long standing love, Sophia, on whom the article is based. Anna Sophia Min-il-Janub literally translates into Dear Sophia From the South of Lebanon.
