HobaCare Jojoba is a premium quality, 100% pure jojoba oil that is highly beneficial for massage therapists. As a single-ingredient product, it aligns perfectly with holistic practices, providing an all-natural, chemical-free massage medium option. Jojoba oil closely resembles human sebum, which allows it to absorb easily and deeply into the skin, delivering a non-greasy, moisturizing experience that doesn't clog pores or cause allergic reactions. Episataxis: “I Have a Client Who . . .” Pathology Conversations with Ruth Werner

A client with frequent nosebleeds works with a massage therapist on TMJ pain, and something unexpected happens: she goes from 3-4 bleeds a week, to about one. The therapist has referred her to get more information about her sinus health, which is a good idea. But is there anything else they can be doing?

The Sacroiliac Joint - The Anatomical Gossip Fence: “The Rebel MT” with Allison Denney

With all the things a back can do, and all the support the pelvis offers, there is a lot to be communicated from one to the other. Enter the SI joint. Otherwise known as the anatomical gossip fence. With all the chatter that happens here, it is, quite possibly, the busiest gossip fence ever.

    Rebel Massage Therapist:
My name is Allison. And I am not your typical massage therapist. After 20 years of experience and thousands of clients, I have learned that massage therapy is SO MUCH more than a relaxing experience at a spa. I see soft tissue as more than merely a physical element but a deeply complex, neurologically driven part of who you are. I use this knowledge to work WITH you—not ON you—to create change that works. This is the basis of my approach. As a massage therapist, I have worked in almost every capacity, including massage clinics, physical therapy clinics, chiropractor offices, spas, private practice, and teaching. I have learned incredible techniques and strategies from each of my experiences. In my 20 years as a massage therapist, I have never stopped growing. I currently have a private practice based out of Long Beach, California, where I also teach continuing education classes and occasionally work on my kids. If they’re good.

Feeling Anatomy: Your Practice in 3D with Rachelle Clauson and Nicole Trombley

Feeling Anatomy: Your Practice in 3D with Rachelle Clauson and Nicole Trombley

Being a skillful feeler is a huge part of what we do in the massage room. And beyond being a good palpator, our touch influences the anatomy our clients feel. In this second episode in our three-part series “Your Practice in 3D,” we discuss the concept of feeling anatomy from the point of view of both the therapist and the client and how AnatomySCAPES dissection lab trainings are improving therapists’ ability to understand the anatomy they touch.

    Challenging Ourselves with Self-Inquiry

    Challenging Ourselves with Self-Inquiry

What’s the difference between coaching, counseling, and psychotherapy? In this episode of The ABMP Podcast, Angie Parris-Raney is joined by Mary McEvilly-Hernandez, a master certified and professional coach, to discuss what the framework of coaching consists of, how it requires presence, deep listening, and curiosity, and how it’s a transferable skill for massage therapists.
After growing increasingly uncomfortable in corporate America, Mary McEvilly-Hernandez built a coaching practice in 2011 to help her clients live and work from their hearts as well as their heads. Her clients find that self-awareness and self-acceptance open the door to personal and professional transformation.
Mary is a master certified and professional coach. She trained and certified with Martha Beck Inc. and was recruited, trained, and certified as a Chopra coach in 2017. She has a PCC credential from the International Coaching Federation and is a National Board Certified Health and Wellness coach. Mary is an instructor and mentor for the Chopra Coaching Certification program and the MBI Wayfinder Coach Training Program. She is bilingual, working with clients in English and Spanish. Originally from Chicago, she and her family live in Arizona and Mexico. Mary coaches executives, those with blended families, and those with children with special needs.
