Americast is the authoritative US news and politics podcast from the BBC. Each week we provide audiences with the best analysis from across the BBC, with on-the-ground observations and big picture insights about the stories which are defining America right now. The podcast is hosted by trusted BBC journalists including the BBC’s North America editor, Sarah Smith, BBC Radio 4 presenter, Justin Webb, the BBC’s disinformation and social media correspondent, Marianna Spring, and BBC North America correspondent, Anthony Zurcher. As well as political analysis, we also specialise in social media. Each week Marianna Spring brings listeners the latest updates from the BBC’s Undercover Voters, our award-winning investigation into the content that is recommended to US voters on social media. The team is also joined by special guests each week, like CNN anchor, Christiane Amanpour, Emmy Award-winning TV host, Rachel Maddow, and Succession actress, J Smith-Cameron. Podcasts are published every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. As well as being a podcast, we are also available every Friday night on BBC Radio 4 and every weekend on the BBC News Channel. Every Monday we answer your questions on Americanswers, with some help from special guests, including Miles Taylor, who was chief of staff at the Department for Homeland Security during the Trump presidency before becoming a whistleblower. I so look forward to each episode of Americast. I love your perspective and humor. You help us Americans not to take ourselves so seriously while delivering accurate reporting. Please don't stop after the election!
One of the most clueless podcasts I have ever wasted my time listening to … SHAMEFUL!
Nov 16
Wow - these clueless BBC shills suddenly have all the answers as to why Kamala lost (except that she was known to be the WORST VICE-PRESIDENT IN HISTORY serving under the WORST PRESIDENT EVER)! These podcasts demonstrate how out of touch the mainstream media is with everyday people. I hope the Americast Kamala cheerleaders lose their jobs for the useless garbage they peddled during this election. I am a lifelong Democrat who was betrayed by my party over the past four years and (for sheer moral reasons alone, along with the economy, immigration, and all the rest) cast my vote for Trump last week and guess what? HE WON! Learn from this and actually talk to human beings on all sides in the future if you want to keep your cushy “journalist” titles and not end up working at Applebee’s. Meanwhile, I’ll take a Diet Coke, please.
Why Trump Won

This episode was just terrible. Thinly reported and reflecting a poor understanding of the American political scene. I will unfollow. The need for good analysis of the coming four years is greater than ever, and this is not it. Not worth the time.
Liberal Snobs Whining and Opining
Nov 8
This podcast has been trying to set itself out as a credible news source; which is something that takes a genuinely bi-partisan position to achieve. But it is miles away from that and has turned into one of the worst liberal apologetics productions there is. They’re now pretty much campaigning for Biden 2024 (having an “emergency” podcast after his disastrous own goal press meeting showing his failing cognition off for all to see). Look BBC, wake up to your bias and arrogance and stop pretending to be genuinely reporting US politics. You’re not. And that means you’re just yet another CNN. You should just call yourself Libcast or something like that and then moderates and swing voters can just ignore you. I will be and recommend others do the same. Awful program
