Scene on Radio

This is probably my all time favorite podcast series and I was so excited to see a new season unpacking the history and current state of capitalism and it has not disappointed! Just a phenomenal series delving into some of the most important issues of our day. Even with such heavy topics it never leaves me feeling hopeless somehow; it’s thoughtful, heart centered, intelligent journalism. I’m excited to see what seasons come next, because this past one has been like Pandora’s box with so many segments that could be whole seasons in and of themselves.

Like others, I came to Scene on Radio via the peerless Capitalism series, season seven. I am grateful for all the recommended books and little known facts about well-known historic figures. While I’m somewhat empathetic toward them, I cannot help attempting to dispute those who find the sources and scholarship unconvincing. We in the USA have all been steeped in the mythology of the Free Market for at least a century. I’m sad that these listeners have yet to recognize that we have been gaslit about Adam Smith’s Free Hand for generations, and all I can do is wish them luck as we wade into uncharted economic territory alone.

Tune in and get educated in a thoughtful way that challenges what people think of the structures of power in the world. Great for a long term vision of who we are, how we got here, and where we’re headed.

I started with Season 7 Capitalism, and I was absolutely hooked. This is one of the best podcasts out there, packed with information, but also so intelligently organized and thoughtfully delivered. I am listening for the second time all the way through. If you felt like something was missing in your formative education on all things related to the United States, you are absolutely correct. Let Scene on Radio fill in the gaps. These critiques are more relevant than ever, but knowledge is power. You need this knowledge.
