Why Do You Marvel? | Revelation 17:7-18 | Pastor Daniel Batarseh (Book Series)

Sunday Service (5/17/26) // *Revelation 17:7-18* (ESV) // *The Great Prostitute and the Beast* // 7 But the angel said to me, “Why do you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast with seven heads and ten horns that carries her. 8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit[a] and go to destruction. And the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come. 9 This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated; 10 they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while. 11 As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction. 12 And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast. 13 These are of one mind, and they hand over their power and authority to the beast. 14 They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful.”15 And the angel[b] said to me, “The waters that you saw, where the prostitute is seated, are peoples and multitudes and nations and languages. 16 And the ten horns that you saw, they and the beast will hate the prostitute. They will make her desolate and naked, and devour her flesh and burn her up with fire, 17 for God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and handing over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. 18 And the woman that you saw is the great city that has dominion over the kings of the earth.”*Footnotes*a. Nehemiah 2 (Part 2) Bible Study (Nehemiah Inspects Jerusalem's Walls) | Pastor Daniel Batarseh (Book of Nehemiah Series)

Friday Bible Study (5/15/26) // *7 Principles for Effective Ministry* //*Nehemiah Inspects Jerusalem's Walls* // 9 Then I came to the governors of the province Beyond the River and gave them the king's letters. Now the king had sent with me officers of the army and horsemen. 10 But when Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite servant heard this, it displeased them greatly that someone had come to seek the welfare of the people of Israel.11 So I went to Jerusalem and was there three days. 12 Then I arose in the night, I and a few men with me. And I told no one what my God had put into my heart to do for Jerusalem. There was no animal with me but the one on which I rode. 13 I went out by night by the Valley Gate to the Dragon Spring and to the Dung Gate, and I inspected the walls of Jerusalem that were broken down and its gates that had been destroyed by fire. 14 Then I went on to the Fountain Gate and to the King's Pool, but there was no room for the animal that was under me to pass. 15 Then I went up in the night by the valley and inspected the wall, and I turned back and entered by the Valley Gate, and so returned. 16 And the officials did not know where I had gone or what I was doing, and I had not yet told the Jews, the priests, the nobles, the officials, and the rest who were to do the work.17 Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in, how Jerusalem lies in ruins with its gates burned. Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer suffer derision.” 18 And I told them of the hand of my God that had been upon me for good, and also of the words that the king had spoken to me. And they said, “Let us rise up and build.” So they strengthened their hands for the good work. 19 But when Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite servant and Geshem the Arab heard of it, they jeered at us and despised us and said, “What is this thing that you are doing? Are you rebelling against the king?” 20 Then I replied to them, “The God of heaven will make us prosper, and we his servants will arise and build, but you have no portion or right or claim[a] in Jerusalem.”*Footnotes*a. Friday Bible Study (5/8/26) // *Nehemiah Sent to Judah* // 2 In the month of Nisan, in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was before him, I took up the wine and gave it to the king. Now I had not been sad in his presence. 2 And the king said to me, “Why is your face sad, seeing you are not sick? This is nothing but sadness of the heart.” Then I was very much afraid. 3 I said to the king, “Let the king live forever! Why should not my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' graves, lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?” 4 Then the king said to me, “What are you requesting?” So I prayed to the God of heaven. 5 And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers' graves, that I may rebuild it.” 6 And the king said to me (the queen sitting beside him), “How long will you be gone, and when will you return?” So it pleased the king to send me when I had given him a time. 7 And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, let letters be given me to the governors of the province Beyond the River, that they may let me pass through until I come to Judah, 8 and a letter to Asaph, the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the fortress of the temple, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall occupy.” And the king granted me what I asked, for the good hand of my God was upon me.Website: https://mbchicago.org *FOLLOW US* Facebook: https://facebook.com/mbc.chicago Instagram: https://instagram.com/mbc.chicago TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@mbc.chicago Podcasts: Listen on Apple, Spotify & others *TO SUPPORT US* Zelle to: info@mbchicago.org Website: https://mbchicago.org/give Venmo: https://venmo.com/mbchurch DAF Donations: https://every.org/mbc.chicago PayPal: https://paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=AA74AC7V5WYMJ #Nehemiah #BookOfNehemiah #BibleStudy #BibleExplained #Bible #BiblicalStudies #BibleTeacher #WordOfGod #BiblicalLessons #BibleJournal #BibleReading #BibleStudyNotes #biblestudycommunity #ChicagoChurch #BibleVerse

Do you want to move from just reading the Bible to truly understanding and "digging" into its depths? In this opening session of the Rooted Conference, Pastor Daniel Batarseh shares the foundational "Tool Belt" for deeper Bible study. This isn't just a session on how to teach; it’s a practical workshop on how to study the Word of God for yourself, so that the word of Christ can "dwell in you richly" (Colossians 3: 16).In this session, you will learn: The Goal of Study: Understanding Bible study as a critical part of the Great Commission and personal discipleship.Reading Systematically Why reading from Genesis to Revelation is essential for creating a "mental map" of Scripture. The Power of Thinking: Why revelation comes to "thinkers," not just readers, and how to meditate on what you read.Asking the Right Questions: 8 specific questions to ask any text to unlock its original meaning and modern application. The Compatibility Principle: How to use clear passages to interpret unclear ones and the importance of parallel passages. The Art of Observation: Paying attention to details like time markers, locations, and repetition (the Bible's internal highlighter).Pastor Daniel also leads a live "homework" session using Genesis 18, demonstrating how to apply these tools to see the beauty of God’s character in the details of the text. 📌 TIMESTAMPS: 0:00 - Introduction: Equipping the Saints for the Great Commission 1:59 - Discipleship as the Transmission of Truth 5:14 - Learning How to "Dig": Setting the Foundation 8:11 - Tool #1: Reading Through the Bible (The Mental Map) 12:33 - Reading Systematically vs. "Picking" Verses 18:20 - Reading Slowly and Beholding the Glory of God 20:56 - Tool #2: Meditative Reading (The Thinker's Reward) 25:20 - Tool #3: Asking the Text 8 Critical Questions 30:57 - Example: Misinterpreting Luke 6: 38 (Give and it will be given) 35:10 - Tool #4: Cross-Referencing (The Compatibility Principle) 40:31 - Clear Passages vs. Unclear Passages (1 Cor 15: 29) 43:10 - The Importance of Parallel Passages (The Alabaster Flask) 46:31 - Tool #5: Paying Attention to Details (Time, Location, Objects) 50:24 - Example: The Significance of the Sun Rising on Jacob 54:08 - Example: The Charcoal Fire in the Book of John 57:59 - Tool #6: Repetition (The Bible’s Internal Highlighter) 1:02:50 - Repetition in Genesis 1: "And God saw that it was good" 1:08:50 - Live Workshop: Applying Tools to Genesis 18 1:16:28 - Observations on Abraham’s Hospitality and Posture 1:21:30 - Closing Prayer and Break #BibleStudy #ChristianGrowth #PastorDanielBatarseh #BibleTeaching #Hermeneutics #JesusInTheOldTestament #ThePuritans #BibleStudyTools #HowToStudyTheBible #Bible #versebyverse #sermon #sermons #sermononline #newtestament #oldtestament #scripture #verses #lessons #church #chicago #livechurch #churchlive #chicagochurch #chicagochurches #jesus #jesuschrist #prayer #DanielBatarseh #mbchicago #mbcchicago

People gnawed their tongues in anguish 11 and cursed the God of heaven for their pain and sores. They did not repent of their deeds.12 The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, to prepare the way for the kings from the east. 13 And I saw, coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs. 14 For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty. 15 (“Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”) 16 And they assembled them at the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. #Revelation #BookofRevelation #BibleStudy #BibleExplained #BiblicalStudies #BibleTeacher #WordOfGod #BiblicalLessons #BibleJournal #BibleReading #BibleStudyCommunity #BibleVerse #prophecy #prophetic #jerusalem Website: https://mbchicago.org FOLLOW US Facebook:   / mbc.chicago   Instagram:   / mbc.chicago   TikTok:   / mbc.chicago   Podcasts: Listen on Apple, Spotify & others TO SUPPORT US Zelle to: info@mbchicago.org Website: https://mbchicago.org/give Venmo: https://venmo.com/mbchurch DAF Donations: https://every.org/mbc.chicago PayPal: https://paypal.com/donate/?hosted_but...
