Dear Mr. Friel, Thank you for taking time on this podcast to discuss deep theological topics. It has exceedingly grown my understanding of Scripture, and I love how you incorporate humor into each episode! However, ever since you began to criticize the shows: House of David and The Last Supper, from an outsider’s perspective it seemed like you were judging those who have watch them and those who made the movie/show. I had three questions in regard to this topic: 1) You mentioned that the show, House of David, has multiple parts that aren’t mentioned in the Bible. However, doesn’t it make sense for the movie writer to use creative license? 2) You mentioned that using creative license might alter people’s understanding of Scripture. However, House of David has done the very opposite for me. Because of how incredible David’s life looked on film, it has motivated me to study it further in the Scriptures! I’ve heard that it’s also done the same for others. Can you please help me understand what sources you used to back up your point? 3) You mentioned how both the House of David and the Last Supper are not accurate interpretations of Scripture. However, for the first time in a while, movie businesses are beginning to create Christian films. Isn’t this better than them spending their time on violent or pornographic films? Shouldn’t there be a degree to which we support their efforts? After all, not everyone has the same convictions, but we still have the same desire: glorify Christ and reach the world with the means He has given us in the current day and age. Again, I understand that I might be missing something, but I would really appreciate your clarification. - Peyton Faith
