Decent

Could have been shortened by 2-3 episodes. Good, but not as good as the Teacher’s Pet. A lot of repeat details.
Too long too often
10/27/2022
Why do I care about a car race that took place (if memory serves) a good two months before the woman’s disappearance? What am I doing listening to announcers of this race for minutes? I am sorry, but it feels like you fill in your podcasts with irrelevant detail and repeat information. More episodes, more ad revenue? Please, get to the point.
Andrew Jones
01/07/2022
It’s frustrating that the podcast producers heavily believe that Andrew Jones is not a good suspect just because Lynette couldn’t ID him in a police image line up. That doesn’t mean it wasn't him that tried to abduct her. Who knows what image she was shown. More research has to be done. He just cannot be ruled out because of this. Also, why hasn’t the DNA from Jones’ car come back yet? And why have sniffer dogs not been brought in to search the creek by the university? Those dogs can smell death many many years after the fact.
What Really happened in Wuhan

Spreading trumpist propaganda?? I really thought this podcast was better than that.
The police can’t be trusted

There are numerous examples of police covering up the crimes of other police. To act or talk about how that isn’t possible is either stupid or very suspect. And he was on the case
Compassionate but Disorganized
03/05/2021
I decided to listen to this after loving The Teacher’s Pet. Unfortunately, this one was not nearly as good. The Good I listen to a lot of true crime, and Hedley is one of the most compassionate, nonjudgmental, and skilled interviewers in the genre. He respects everyone in the story, presents evidence of both guilt and innocence, and does a really great job of communicating the experience of those suffering as opposed to purely exploiting their stories. The story is compelling, and he has a wide variety of sources that he explores. The Bad The storyline was very disorganized and bloated. There was really no consistent thread throughout other than someone was missing and presumed dead, and multiple people are suspected of the murder. One of the brilliant things about The Teacher’s Pet was the nested storylines-a woman missing within the context of rampant child abuse within the context of a particular era and culture. It was complex but well-crafted. This podcast just couldn’t seem to figure out what it was. The same information was presented over and over. It easily could have cut out at least four, maybe five, episodes. Would I recommend listening to it? Yes, with the caveat that when you get the urge to fast forward, do it. You will not miss anything. I will continue to listen to Hedley’s future podcasts, because I have great respect for his work, and I suspect something behind the scenes went awry here.
Hedley Thomas is on a level all his own
03/01/2021
Between this podcast and The Teacher’s Pet there is simply no one even close to doing what Hedley is doing in True Crime investigating/podcasting. His work is a must listen for any fan of the genre.
bad audio

incredibly distracting bad audio
So disjointed and rambling
01/09/2021
The only thing I’m certain of in this case is that it’s their words but not their voices, and that the retired judge is Hedley’s friend
High School Paper
02/01/2021
This sounds like a high school paper that strings together a bunch of quotations without actually saying anything. It seems to assume you already know the story, starting in the middle with suspects and jumping around randomly, without any overview or background whatsoever. Host is obsessed with throwing in as many random audio clips as possible. The podcast utterly fails to tell a coherent story. A huge disappointment after The Teacher’s Pet.
