Skulltenders
A DND podcast about necromancers, psychic wastoids, and the civil servants who take them down. When ghosts, necromancers, and magical monstrosities raise a ruckus in the land of the living, the Skulltenders will answer! Join a cat-lady rogue, an owl with human legs, and their inflexible Gooman chaperone in a hilarious and horrifying tabletop adventure that mixes the thrilling pacing of monster-of-the-week play with the addictive intrigue of a long-term campaign. Professional game-writer Cohen Edenfield draws on a decade of DMing to delight and terrorize webcomics titan KC Green, gamer culture luminary Jess O’Brien, and punk rocker Amber Carr, AKA “the Horror Games Elvira.” Tight editing, immersive sound design, and Seth Boyer’s original music round out what many friends and family members of the cast are calling “the perfect D&D podcast.”

I saw he was a guest and knew I had to listen, and then I read the description and knew I had to listen, and then I heard the first episode and now it's a week later and I'm done with season three and all I can think about is Visc with a "WWTMD" bracelet floating in their body (That's What would the mayor do btw)

I love the sound design, evocative world that is richly described, and the consistent metaphysics at play for this series about 3 heroes that are sent up to the Land of the Living to sort out necromantic phenomena.
Fantastic Start

Came here from Rude Tales of Magic after Cohen and Jess guested on an ep. Absolutely loving this show, such incredible world building and rich sound design. Favorite new podcast.

I got my start with D&D real play podcasts years ago with Critical Role, but my favorite has always been Dungeons and Daddies. I’ve been chasing that high ever since and have always felt kind of disappointed with what I’ve found. Some is pretty fun, but it it feels like there’s always something missing. Maybe the sound design isn’t great, maybe the writing is flat, or maybe the players themselves just don’t have a fun dynamic. But this has been fantastic. I keep waiting for it to be a letdown, but it’s just so much fun. The characters are a great balance to each other, the world is VERY cool and atmospheric so far, and the general technical quality feels very high. Cohen seems like a creative, capable, and overall funny DM. Amber, KC, and Jess (especially Jess) have created such stupid, wonderful little characters. They’re slapstick and silly, but there have already been a few moments that are genuinely touching (Doo Doo’ on the dock). Cohen’s done a great job setting up an overarching idea of living in a world where you are fading away. So much of a good role play podcast like this is just having a solid, meaningful premise as a guide and a backdrop for your characters, and I think he may have nailed it. Anyway, so excited, already signed up for the Patreon. Hope you guys keep going!
