    Fit for Duty

    Fit for Duty

For many people, staying in shape can feel like a full-time job. For Officer Anthony Price, it’s one of three. Also a police officer and dad of four, Anthony gives us some insight into what it takes to keep all three jobs running smoothly. When we moved into the neighborhood, Anthony and his family were some of the first people we met. It was quickly clear we shared the same passion for fitness. In a career that requires physical readiness but has little to no physical standards, Anthony sets his own. In this episode, Anthony recounts his own experiences in the police force. He shares the importance of perspective and how he has learned that “fitness for duty” is not just a physical state, but a state of mental readiness and maturity.

7 Days of Cheap Healthy Meals

7 Days of Cheap Healthy Meals

There’s a huge misconception regarding healthy meals––that is, cheap healthy meals. Meal planning is usually laid out in a diagram telling us “cheap, healthy, tasty” doesn’t exist. In fact, we’ve just got to submit to choosing two.

However, this just isn’t true, and we at Fit for the Task would like to think we have a bit of authority on the matter.

For example, these are meals we have eaten as broke college students, struggling adults, and otherwise just frugal fitness fanatics (say that five times fast). We’re speaking as a couple who frequently has contests for who can spend the least at the grocery store.

These are our real go-to meals that work for us. They’re not all we eat all the time, but they’re a very good starting point for anyone trying to make healthy eating a habit.

What to Do When We Lack Fitness Motivation

What to Do When We Lack Fitness Motivation

We’ve been playing our “pump-up” jams all morning, scrolled through our entire “Fitness Motivation” board on Pinterest, and tried hyping ourselves up with videos of heavy men picking up even heavier objects. Still, a voice is heard in the distance:

    “But I don’t wanna!”

Who said it? A five-year-old kid in need of a bath or us, parked outside the gym on a leg day?

Unfortunately, fitness motivation doesn’t always come naturally. Nevertheless, there are 5 simple steps we can use to stir up motivation or still be productive even on days we just feel like holing up and being lazy.

    How to Get Flexible Fast!

    How to Get Flexible Fast!

Flexibility isn’t something some people have and some people don’t. It’s something that is worked toward. The best part about it is anyone can get flexible!

It’s easy to look at someone who can comfortably sit on the floor in a large straddle, slide into a split, or even just squat down to the floor with heels on the ground feet and think, Man, I wish I were that flexible.

Well, why not become that flexible? Through proper hydration, exercises, recovery, and stretching, learning how to get flexible quickly isn’t a stretch.

    Stretching for Sciatica Pain Relief

    Stretching for Sciatica Pain Relief

Sciatica––it sounds like a life sentence of chronic pain numbed only by painkillers and chiropractor visits. Too often, stretching for sciatica is not added into the equation, even though it can eliminate the need for painkillers, improve range of motion, and prevent further injury.

Maybe all we were trying to do was lift our kid up onto the swing, move a new desk upstairs, or maybe just drive to work then sit at a desk all day. Now we’re bound to the couch, walking with a limp, and in constant pain.

Chiropractor visits aren’t even an option because we can’t manage to lie flat without excruciating pain. Pain pills are only masking the condition, but to figure out what’s really wrong, we need to understand what exactly sciatica is.
