Ep. 109 No Babalawos in the DM Part II

Let’s talk money, scammers, and the industry of witchcraft. What’s wrong with making money off of legitimate spiritual work? Is it inherently the same force we’re trying to fight against (consumerism and capitalism?) Well, it can be – especially if they're scamming you on behalf of the ancestors, NO BABALAWOS IN THE DM! I also have a hot take about pastors getting a bag…because…I’m not mad at a nice new suit and some gators. What??? They supposed to be dusty???

Ep. 108 Woke Up Afro and Pessimistic

After a very peculiar dream, I wake up feeling very afro and VERY pessimistic. After fighting with the Afro-pessimists, I finally GET IT. Am I an Afro-pessimist? Who can say? Currently, questioning if freedom is real and if we will ever feel it. Also, Hoodoo is a religion – but, it's also sometimes about killing your slut neighbor. not.

Love the Pod but These Song Cuts…

I love the little JuJu theme song put throughout for transitions! Here for it, queer for it. But in the ‘Afro Pessimism’ episode, there are soooo many cuts to a plethora of sounds/songs… and it made it hard for me to really listen to the information. These convos are DEEP, so I need to be able to focus! And these aren’t just sound bites… they’re like 40 seconds of a song that is, yes… in theme, but jarring. Maybe a playlist in the description section is a great solution. They are poignant to the topic. Butttt we come here because we love hearing Juju! I LOVE THE POD! It’s thought provoking, so we need to be able to follow.

We needed this!

Heyyy Juju 👋🏽 I came across your podcast in January because I was looking for Orisha and spiritual podcast. I’m so grateful that I found your platform. You are amazing and drop so many jewels. I love the guest speakers you bring in. Thank goodness you came back out with another season because I was getting closer to finishing the previous episodes lol. Thank you for who you are and all that you do…Ase 💛
