My life purpose is "to embrace and explore my creativity and help others create the life God meant them to live." I'm a former pastor who was called by God into the world of entrepreneurship and personal development. In my podcast, I tell stories, deliver messages, and engage in lively conversations with my friends and heroes. Whether I'm unpacking and applying a story from the Gospels, quoting a line from an 80s romantic comedy, or discussing my love for art and literature, I always have one goal in mind: to help you pursue your God-given potential; not just for your own gain, but for the glory of God and the good of the world.

Finding God's Presence in Everyday Moments - Ep 46

In this episode, Erin Anhfeldt and I delve into symbols and symbolism. As an English teacher, Erin often discusses these concepts in the classroom with his students. And at the mention of symbolism, it might evoke a sense of dread. However, Erin believes that symbols, both in literature and in life, have the power to move us deeply. They are tangible representations of abstract ideas, and I think that God uses them powerfully in our lives. Erin opens up a lot when he says, "one of the most profound symbols in my life appeared when my daughter Hope was born. Doctors had told us that we would never be able to have children, making her birth a miraculous event. We named her Hope to remind ourselves to never give up, even when things seem impossible. The day she was born, as I looked at her in the bassinet, I felt overwhelmed by the responsibility of being a good father. In that moment of doubt, I noticed the majestic Pikes Peak through the hospital window and was reminded of Psalm 121: 'I lift my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.' That mountain became a symbol of God's help and presence in my life, reassuring me that I am not alone." Recognizing symbols requires reflection, which can be fostered through journaling, intentional conversations, or simply spending time in quiet contemplation. These practices help us see the sacred in our daily lives and understand that we are part of a larger story written by God. Symbols and themes are woven into our experiences to remind us of His love and guidance. Whether through writing, discussing with friends, or observing our surroundings, we can uncover these meaningful symbols and gain a deeper appreciation of our journey.   (0:00) - Intro (1:17) - Symbolism (8:04) - Recurring symbols (11:30) - "To Kill A Mocking Bird" (13:27) - Spend more time reflecting (18:40) - Discover your story (22:50) - Living symbols (30:16) - "Drawing On The Left Side Of The Brain" (34:50) - God loves symbols (40:27) - Movies (47:27) - Final thoughts (48:50) - Conclusion   Learn more about Erin: www.erinahnfeldt.com.    Apply for coaching: https://www.vaughnkohler.com/coaching    Follow Vaugh on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/vaughnkohler/
