    Motivation through Inspiration

    Motivation through Inspiration

As I have been listening to people over the last few weeks, many have been expressing their fatigue at challenges, how fast time is going by, the wars that are not going to end, and the struggles of inflation etc.  It is a trying time for sure.  So, how do we navigate past these low areas in our world, to find peace, harmony, or joy every day?

It was inspiring to know that people were no longer basing their day on the news, but rather were avidly making connections with friends or neighbours and changing habits about listening to what is happening, and making things happen instead.

How can we be motivated to be different, to achieve different, to view differently.  Today Charlene and I are going to talk about inspirations that make us bring the experience of humanity and our planet into our hands and into our hearts.

We have an update for you with the Moyo family, and we hope you will grab a cup of tea, maybe even the Mission4Change CommuniTEA, so we are all together, supporting one another while we listen.

If you wish to support our mission to help the families in Malawi in famine conditions, please consider sharing with

If you would like to purchase TEA to fundraise, and perhaps share with family and friends, you can reach out to Charlene Waines on Facebook for the BC area, and online at capebretontea.ca.

    Releasing our Stories with Illness

    Releasing our Stories with Illness

We all have stories that we carry with us about how we got injured and the repercussions, pain, mobility challenges, mental fatigue etc.  We often refer to ourselves as having a good leg and a bad leg, or having a bad back.  We can take the diagnosis given to us, that may have been resolved, and continue to hold onto being an asthmatic, having arthritis, or suffering from digestive issues.  I am anticipating that just hearing these words can feel heavy and may resonate.

My guest today, Dr. Michaela Jones and I have had several discussions around working with clients and students who have built their stories into their lives, and how they cannot escape them.  As much as they attend sessions and participate in programs to get better, their intentions are thwarted by the stories that continue to grip them.

Please be assured that we are not talking about belittling the experiences or hardships that someone may have endured or suffered from.  But rather, we are looking at how we can change our narrative for a different outcome than we are currently experiencing.  We want to shed a light on what it means to go beyond our experiences and to idealize the outcome we truly hold in our hearts.

Michaela Jones, ND is a multi-modality, Integrative Holistic Health Specialist blending traditional naturopathy, homeopathy, nutrition, emotion release, and energetic work for the health and wellness of body, mind, and soul. She is a Doctor of Naturopathy and a board-certified Holistic Health Practitioner with over 25 years of experience in natural health and nutrition. She works with adults and older teens who struggle with chronic issues and mysterious ailments, and who have tried everything, but still have no relief. She helps them connect the dots between physical, emotional, and energetic root causes; and helps them address those causes holistically so that they can truly heal and live symptom-free.

    Finding Your Compass

    Finding Your Compass

We all can remember that favourite storybook that we read over and over.  The one our parents could recite in their sleep.  We also can remember the characters and the moral of the story.  These are the lessons we likely still live by today when we are searching for that right answer, or that right choice to move forward.

My guest today, Paul Collins, is the owner of Moonlight Puppies, a publishing company that specializes in writing children’s books that demonstrate strong, life-long principles.  With beautiful illustrations and character development, can reach the heart of every child’s imagination as they listen to and learn to read his books.

As you consider the programs your children may be involved in, and I am aware of the characters now a part of my grandson’s life, we need to look at the messages those characters are sharing, and how we support our youth to be their very best, one good book at a time.

Be Proud of Who You Are

Be Proud of Who You Are

Our guest today, Yvette Cole, is a kindergarten teacher, and a children’s author.  Celebrating Black History Month, her book: “Harriet’s Dinner Party” is being brought to the forefront for shining a lens on some important history that has been invisible to many of us through the decades.  Her frustration with not being able to show the reality and the richness of black history for North America created her first story.

Our conversation sheds a light on how we can help our youth and our community to grow and understand many aspects of history and connection.

    Transformation through our Guides

    Transformation through our Guides

Today’s podcast is taking a deep dive into guides, transformation and knowledge we can gain from the other side.  I am joined by Laura Hoorweg who is a gifted Intuitive Counselor/Coach and Clairvoyant Medium. She started her spiritual journey at the tender age of 11 in search of God and the Angels, visiting multiple churches and places of worship by herself, even though she was not raised in a spiritual or religious family. She had an extraordinary transcendental out-of-body experience on the top of a cliff at the age of 15 which changed her concept of this world and what lies beyond it forever.

Laura also took a pilgrimage to Costa Rica, Peru, Hawaii, and Brazil where she spent time healing and looking towards her next transformation.  Together we will be exploring the idea of transformation and our opportunity to have guidance along the way, but also a way to connect with our guides.

If these ideas are new to you, this podcast will have you thinking differently about how you are supported every day.  And, if this is a subject you have spent time in already, then let Laura lead you into new insights and opportunities with her wealth of experience and insights.

Living Life with Meaning into our Golden Years

Living Life with Meaning into our Golden Years

I am delighted to be able to watch my parents and my husband’s father thriving in their eighties.  They have embraced their golden years in a way that continues to give to others and to know that their actions, words, and passion to help others make a difference.

On my last visit to my parents, it was an unexpected trip and so my dad was not able to find someone to take his paper route that he does in the middle of the night.  He is awake while many of us are asleep, and he sleeps in two stints during the day.  On this visit, he was trying to get in his visiting time while maintaining his sleeping arrangement that works for him.  We were talking about the stress of the hours, but he delights in the quiet time, his chance to see amazing sunrises, and connect with other paper carriers who work the late night shift.  He exclaimed to me that having a purpose and a connection was important and it kept him going. As much as the hours are hard, I agree with him.

I should add that both of my parents teach Tai Chi several days a week and are devoted to their club.  They both practice on their own as well to stay sharp and ready for teaching, and they know how to work through their physical challenges of stiff knees and hands, sore backs or neck, as they both have a set routine that they are devoted to.

My father-in-law jumped out of a plane for a tandem jump last month to raise a significant amount of money for hospice, and then he went soaring down a zip line.  His work with the Lion’s Club for decades had him involved in the community in many worthwhile projects.  He is still devoted to supporting community events and activities and is one of the most active members at his apartment complex.

There are many stories of exuberant seniors who run circles around us younger folk, but I want to dive into some of the insights of today’s guest.  Returning to share more of her wisdom as a medical doctor and the patients she has watched grow old over the years and thrive or wither as they have aged is Dr. Marianne Bette. In our last podcast episode we discussed her book “Living with a Grieving Heart,” and today I am excited to hear about what Marianne has learned across her years helping others.

Retired from her practice in Connecticut, Dr. Bette brings us some of the wisdom and stories that are a part of her next book.
