Ep. 199: We all have thoughts on Beyoncé going into haircare - but if you don't want it you don’t have to buy it.
For this episode I wanted to explore the many layers of discussion around Beyoncé launching haircare, including the question, is she even qualified to launch a haircare line?
As part of Destiny’s Child alongside longterm members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, from 2001 onwards the band won every award you can think of, and as a solo artist Beyoncé has amassed over 30 Grammys and is tied with her husband
Jay-Z as the most nominated act in Grammys history with 88 nominations each.
As well as the endless awards and nominations Beyoncé is absolutely 100 percent a modern day hair icon for black women the world over and has undoubtedly inspired millions of women to make changes with their hair. In this episode I discuss a little of Beyoncé's impact, her importance, her personal life and her reasons for going into haircare.
I’d love to know your thoughts on this one – you can either DM me on Instagram or Twitter or, if you’re listening on Spotify, please do take part in the poll I’ve shared on the episode page. Thank you so much for listening – if you want a little bit more
of me, go ahead and subscribe to my newsletter at beautymenotes.substack.com and if you enjoyed this episode, feel free to leave a review on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or anywhere you like to listen.

Ep. 198: 5-minute beauty review: Caudalie Vinosun Very High Protection Lightweight Cream SPF50
This is the first in a new series of short and sweet episodes that are solely product-based. Each episode I’ll tell you what the product is, what the brand says about it, what the reviews say and break down the packaging, smell and feel. I'll also and give it a mark out of 5 based on whether it matches the claims on the website and how it performed for me.
This week I’m looking at the Caudalie Vinosun Very High Protection Lightweight Cream SPF50.
I’d love to know if you’ve tried this product or if there’s another product you want me to do a 5-minute review on. Email me beautymepodcast@gmail.com or DM me on Instagram or Twitter @beautymepodcast. Don’t forget there’s also the

Ep. 197: The life and looks of Disco Queen and Beauty Icon Donna Summer
This episode is dedicated to the impact of Donna Summer, the woman known as the queen of disco who inspired millions around the world to dance, really dance, and forget their troubles. But it wasn’t just about the sounds – it was about her hair, her features, her makeup, the glitter and the sequins.
The reason I’ve decided now is the time to focus on the wonders of Donna Summer is because HBO is releasing a documentary today, called Love to Love You, Donna Summer and it promises to share Donna’s struggles with fame, how she navigated being a mother and also endeavoured to keep her private life private, all while experiencing such career highs as being the first black woman to have a music video play on MTV. I’m dying to watch the documentary so I thought I’d try and take us back a little bit to break down just how Donna inspired the world.
Let me know if you enjoyed this episode and if you're listening on Spotify and you're a Donna Summer fan, be sure to take part in my poll and let me know your favourite Donna song.
And don't forget, there's my special Donna video over on TikTok @charissekenion right now! If you want to let me know what you'd like to hear more of on the show, email me direct on beautymepodcast@gmail.com or DM me on Instagram or Twitter @beautymepodcast.

Ep. 196: Base battle! How does the Saie Glowy Super Skin Foundation compare with the Ilia Beauty Super Serum Skin Tint?
This week it’s the Battle of the Bases! I’m testing the Saie Glowy Superskin Weightless Hydrobounce Serum Foundation against Ilia Beauty’s Super Serum Skin Tint. Both products are aimed at giving you a natural, glowing base and after reviewing them side by side over, I thought it made sense to share a full review of both for the podcast listeners. Full disclaimer; all products reviewed were kindly sent to me by the brands with zero expectations.
Let me know if you’ve tried either of these products – especially if you’re a fan of the Ilia serum as I would love to pass on any positive reviews for the other listeners. You can email me direct on beautymepodcast@gmail.com or DM me on Instagram or Twitter @beautymepodcast or on TikTok @charissekenion.

Ep. 195: Tarte Cosmetics is #trippin again – what can we learn from vlogger Bria Jones' Formula 1 experience?
It's a Bank Holiday BONUS episode because I wanted to weigh in on the story surrounding lifestyle vlogger Bria Jones and her decision to turn down a Tarte brand trip to the Miami Grand Prix. It's a story about the billion dollar business of Formula 1, unfair treatment, so-called 'miscommunication', alleged death threats and for some, it's also about race.
For me, this entire experience is a warning for other creators. Know who you are, know your worth, seek opportunities but
always, always get the information you need and always ask for what you are worth, in fact, ask ALL the questions! Let me know your thoughts over at beautymepodcast@gmail.com or DM me on Twitter or Instagram @beautymepodcast.

Ep. 194: Red carpet hair and beauty moments from the 2023 Met Gala – or should that be Meh Gala?
The 2023 Met Gala happened Monday May 1st so of course, this episode is all about the hair and beauty moments from the night. With many of my favourite fashion accounts labelling the event as 'the worst Met Gala ever' I'm pretty relieved I'm only focusing on the hair and makeup.
To be honest, I had a feeling about this year’s gala, because the theme itself – designer Karl Lagerfeld – never really excited me.
That said, Karl had a 6-decade long career that saw him at Patou, Balmain, Fendi, Chloe and of course Chanel, from 1983 until his death in 2019. He also had a very definitive signature style of wearing black and white with tons of gothic style sterling silver Chrome Hearts accessories – so really, there was PLENTY of fashion inspiration for attendees to really dive into and create truly monumental moments that we would be talking about forever. But, it didn’t quite go that way.
So this episode is all about the noteworthy hair and beauty moments in my eyes.
Let me know YOUR favourite Met Gala moment over in the DMs on Instagram or Twitter @beautymepodcast or on TikTok @charissekenion or you can email me direct on beautymepodcast@gmail.com.

I just found this Pod through listening to another podcast, and it’s very relative and informative. As Gen X Millennial it gives me true perspective on how beauty transcends through each generation.
My new BF?
Love how Charisse gets her guests too open up and I really appreciate her take on the beauty landscape!
