    Moving Through the Freeze

    Moving Through the Freeze

Did you know treating your client's pelvic floor could save their life?
Do you acknowledge that your clients' bodies have been through a lot?
Join us today as we continue the conversation with Michelle Lyons and dive into a variety of topics, including how we can save women's lives, how we need to acknowledge all the person we are working with has been through during birth, and how movement can shift your client from a state of disconnect to one of safety.
As practitioners, providing postpartum care that is multidisciplinary is important in determining if a mom is able to return to feeling safe in her postpartum body. Michelle mentions that one in two to three women have stopped exercising due to pelvic floor issues which decreases their ability to avoid heart disease. Returning our clients to movement and then exercise as mentor and coach is essential to the health of women everywhere. She takes you through exercises that return motion to the body that will help move clients stuck in a freeze response back to grounding and motion. You don’t want to miss this important conversation and these simple exercises that will help improve your clients'  lives.

    Recognizing The Freeze

    Recognizing The Freeze

Is a pelvic floor first approach the best solution for chronic pelvic pain?

Join in for part one of this incredible two part series with Michelle Lyons as we discuss the importance of Polyvagal Theory in treating clients with chronic pelvic pain and trauma. In this thought provoking conversation, you will learn how working only with the pelvic floor may not yield the fastest or most beneficial treatment results. Michelle teaches us about how to recognize clients with chronic pain and trauma and how to approach our treatments to create a safe environment. In addition, you will be challenged to show up fully present with your clients without the “I have to fix” persona, so you can be the coach and mentor that you truly are as a practitioner.

    Bringing The Magic

Are you tired of working so hard for too little gain personally and/or professionally?

This episode is filled with little pieces of advice for the clinician as well as the practice owner. First, life is about growing personally, professionally and spiritually. Trauma Communication Strategies

    Trauma Communication Strategies

Do you ever struggle with what to say to your clients, especially the ones with a history of trauma? Focusing on your client’s strengths and respecting who they are and where they are coming from is a proven approach that can lead to better birth and postnatal outcomes.

In today’s podcast, I have an enlightening conversation with OB anesthesiologist, Dr. Tracey Vogel. Dr. Vogel offers strategies to help you listen to your clients and then respond using more relatable, positive language. She explains how trauma shows up in these conversations, but it’s the way we as practitioners address it that can help our patients lower their defenses and embrace their perinatal bodies.

She provides the acronym L.I.V.E.S. (listen without judgment, inquire, validate, ensure safety, support follow up) as a way to remember the steps you can take to help your clients feel safe and supported during their births.

    The Mind Body Connection

    The Mind Body Connection

What makes a great practitioner? Is it the perfection of techniques? A strong knowledge of anatomy? Or is there something more that is needed as well?

In today’s podcast, my dear friend Heather Hannam, a physical therapist of 45 years, shares the holistic approach she uses in her practice to successfully treat her clients as she taps into the mind, body connection.

Living in the present and working on personal growth is the key to helping you show up for your clients as they invite you into their most intimate personal space. Heather starts her day clearing negative thoughts, so she can create a safe space for her clients to share their stories. This allows Heather to not only treat her patients’ symptoms, but to uncover the root of their tension which may be an underlying emotion or trauma.

Join in as Heather takes us on a journey to discover how a mind, body connection can help you become a more grounded and impactful practitioner.

    Yoga and Perinatal Care

    Yoga and Perinatal Care

Prenatal yoga has grown in popularity, but do those poses support a woman’s changing body during pregnancy and postpartum? Join us as today’s speaker talks about yoga and the perinatal body.

Throughout pregnancy and postpartum, as a woman’s body changes, so should the ways they practice yoga. In today’s podcast, board-certified women’s health specialist, Anne Duch explains how different yoga classes benefit different stages of perinatal care. Duch shares that yoga poses that focus on opening the pelvis can support a less painful delivery. Whereas, postpartum yoga instruction should focus on poses that help with contracting the pelvic floor.

Tune in for a deeper dive and learn ways you can help your clients with pelvic health concerns gain stability, strength, and control with the right yoga classes for their stage in motherhood.
