Six years have passed since Laena's funeral. Corlys has suffered an accident and is left fighting for his life. Now, the kingdom must decide who will sit the throne of Driftmark and hold the title of Lord of the TIdes.
Vaemond argues with Rhaenys about the succession of Driftmark should his brother not survive.  Daemon acquires a clutch of eggs and receives a message from Baela, regarding Vaemond's recent discussion.  As we arrive in King's Landing, we see the extent of Viserys' illness. Court is held to determine the succession and everyone has a chance to make their claim... Somber times, as we join the Targaryens and Velaryons at Driftmark for the funeral of Laena. After the services, Daemon and Rhaenyra become reacquainted, and Aemond makes a trade for a new dragon. 
A funeral is held at Driftmark after the tragic passing of Laena in Pentos. Daemon and Rhaenyra reacquaint themselves with each other. Aemond decides to take the initiative and try his hand at claiming an unbonded dragon. Baela and the Strongs greet Aemond and give him a prize after landing with Vhagar. Brotherhood Without Manners continue their watch of season 1 House of the Dragon as we leap ahead in time 10 years in The Princess and The Queen.
Rhaenyra gives birth to her third child, which has Laenor's nose. The legitimacy of Jace and Luke is subtly called into question throughout the Red Keep. Harwin Strong shows just how much he cares about the princes, which Criston Cole is happy to address. A wedding proposal is made at the small council meeting to unite Rhaenyra and Alicent's families.
