Episode 22 with Dr Rebeca Segraves Celebrate Muliebrity with Michelle Lyons

    • Health & Fitness

I know I'm enthusiastic about every episode but this one...it's one that I hope will change how you think about inpatient pelvic rehab?

I first came across Rebeca's work a few year's ago when we were both presenting at the Pelvic Academy's Fall Symposium.

In this conversation, we discuss:

why aren't ob/gyn surgical procedures given the same prehab and rehab skilled care that total hip replacements or total knee replacements

(is it an ortho issue vs an ob/gyn issue? but why are patients having prostatectomies given pre and post surgical rehab, but patients having caesarean sections or hysterectomies are not? Could it be a gender issue too?)

the importance of prehab and ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery)

and also: the importance of mental health for pelvic rehab clinicians working in pelvic health, why we need to discuss burnout and boundaries and the importance of inter-disciplinary teamwork

I'm very grateful to Rebeca for sharing her experience, insights and passion to change the dynamic.

If you're listening to this the week it goes live, let me take this chance to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving if you're in the U.S. (my husband is American so I get to celebrate ALL the holidays ;) and to express my gratitude to you for listening!

Don't forget, my Black Friday Sale also goes live this week - make sure you're following me on Instagram (you can find me as michellelyons_muliebrity) or the secret code to unlock the savings!
