    “DUIs to Dragonflies” Marci Hopkins

Today Jeannine interviews Marci Hopkins, an award-winning TV Personality, host and creator of Wake Up with Marci, a Recovery Expert on Fox, CBS, NBC and ABC and the author of ‘Chaos to Clarity: Seeing The Signs and Breaking The Cycles’. Marci experienced sexual abuse and trauma at a young age, which contributed to ongoing alcohol abuse later in life. Even as her life progressed and she achieved what appeared to be a "perfect" life on the outside, on the inside, Marci was still struggling with the shame and self hatred she had developed over years of avoiding the trauma and abuse she had endured as a child and young adult. Sober now since October of 2015, Marci shares with Jeannine how the tools of recovery helped develop her spiritual life, opening her eyes and awareness to begin seeing divine signs and symbols as direction and guidance through her new life of sobriety.

"Meth, carrots, and foot fetish dominatrixes" Hannah Sward

Today Jeannine and Nate interview Hannah Sward, author of "Strip: A Memoir." 'Born in the Bohemian seventies, Hannah was abandoned by her mother, and lived with her poet father on an island with no stores or cars. Kidnapped and molested by a stranger at age six, she grew up to be a stripper and prostitute with a taste for crystal meth - which seemed to be a sure fire way to lose weight - with stops along the way for silent gurus, sugar daddies, and drinking in the CVS bathroom before therapy sessions.' (from back cover of her book) Jeannine and Nate ask Hannah about her experience with sex work, recovery and managing triggers around weight gain in sobriety.

I hope this review reaches Jeaninne

Jeannine,

Congratulations on 8 years. I have almost 15 months and have been able to accomplish things that “on paper”, should have been beyond my reach. Your honest, raw account of what it was like, what happened, and what it’s like now and your experience strength, and hope is the reason your podcast is my favorite. I think I’m your biggest fan. I hope my message reaches you. Keep doing what your doing.

Sincerely,

Sarah S

Encouraging and uplifting

I love hearing Jeanine’s story! Although I am not an addict her story is encouraging and uplifting. Knowing where she’s been and where she is now makes me feel like I can overcome the hardships when they come in my life. Our mistakes are redeemable and may even serve a purpose. Listening to her story has also given me more compassion and understanding for those struggling with issues I haven’t experienced myself.
