Rebecca is one of the founders of Bi(in)visibility, a platform that centers the experiences of bisexual individuals—an often overlooked group within the LGBTQ+ community, despite making up the majority. In fact, studies show that bisexual adults represent 57.3% of LGBTQ+ adults in the U.S., yet their voices are frequently erased or misunderstood. Through Bi(in)visibility, Rebecca is working to change that. 📕 Table of Contents 📕 00:00 Introduction 00:01 Rebecca's journey to Bi Invisibility and challenges within the bisexual community 00:04 Misconceptions and fluidity in bisexual attraction 00:08 Compulsory heterosexuality and identity language 00:12 Personal experiences, inclusivity, and community challenges 00:19 Community evolution and exploring queer identity in relationships 00:25 Gender identity, resources for bi men, and community feedback 00:29 Therapists’ role, advice, and affirming queer identity 00:36 Importance of learning LGBTQ+ history 00:37 Promoting the bi invisibility community and closing Connect With Our Guest 🌈 Rebecca Minor, LICSW, is a queer clinician, consultant, and educator specializing in the intersection of trauma, gender, and sexuality. As a Gender Specialist, Rebecca partners with trans and gender nonconforming youth through their journey of becoming and serves as a guide to their parents in affirming it. Rebecca is the founder of Prism Therapy Collective, where their approach is always trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming. In addition to her clinical work, Rebecca leads a community called bi+ (in)visibility for bi+ people navigating their queer identity in the context of a straight-presenting relationship. She is also part-time faculty at Boston University School of Social Work and has provided cultural responsiveness training and consultation to organizations, schools, and businesses for the past decade.
