Sumaira Isaacs - CEO Global Tourism Forum

Sumaira K. Isaacs is a woman who knows the world and a woman the world should know. When we booked her, our intent to was to explore the close correlation between a country’s open borders and lively tourism to the opportunity for entrepreneurs to achieve business success, but we just happened to schedule this call amid the global COVID-19 pandemic and ended up with a rich conversation about what happens to business when borders close and events cancel.

The movement of people is critical to success of business and unless business tourism returns, can there be a full economic recovery? Afterall, one in ten people in the world work in a role that is part of the hospitality and tourism industry. And with the potential for 75 million hospitality jobs to be lost worldwide and forecasts of half the global airlines closing down, what does the post-COVID-19 global scenario look like?

Originally from Pakistan, with a long base of business in Dubai, and now residing in Canada, Sumaira is an International tourism industry veteran with over 25 years’ experience establishing companies, growing international brands, strategizing mergers and acquisitions, and serving as an expert consultant and advisor. She has worked with companies, tourist boards, associations (serving on several industry boards) and local governments in Africa, Middle East, India, Europe, and North America. Now through the platform of Global Tourism Forum (WoTF Brand) Sumaira is making a difference alleviating poverty and creating jobs by creating a tourism legacy in the developing countries.

Anna-Mieke Anderson - Founder, CEO of MiaDonna

Anna-Mieke Anderson - Founder, CEO of MiaDonna

We invite you to spend time with Anna-Mieke Anderson, a B Corp founder and CEO of MiaDonna & Company and The Greener Diamond (www.miadonna.com). Named by Entreprenuer Magazine as one of their 100 Powerful Women in 2019, we thoroughly enjoyed discussing how the passions that inspire the birth of a business still require sound strategies to keep that mission alive.

Based in Portland, OR, USA, Anna-Mieke is globally recognized as the pioneer of the lab-grown diamond (LGD) industry. After learning the conflict origin of her own earth-mined diamond in 2005, Anna-Mieke challenged the notion that gemstones, particularly diamonds, could only come from a place of unnecessary hardship. In 2007, she launched MiaDonna and pushed the quality of lab-grown diamonds to the highest levels. Today, ten percent of net profits are given to their non-profit foundation, The Greener Diamond, which helps free women and children oppressed by the active conflict diamond mining industry.

Anna-Meike is a dedicated mother of 2, an avid philanthropist and successful entrepreneur, who is internationally recognized as a humanitarian and activist who works tirelessly to inspire other young women to follow their entrepreneurial spirit. Connect with Anna-Meike via LinkedIn

Farah Asemi – Founder of ecofleet

Join us as we head to the UK to discuss socially conscious business with Farah Asemi, founder of ecofleet, a sustainable mindful B to C logistics service using carbon-neutral electric cargo bikes and vehicles. In this episode we transverse topics of product development, white label service, warehousing in a city like London and management of a unique workforce. Currently, ecofleet riders do 12,000 laps of the world every year. But what we love oh so much is the branding – it is worth checking out.
We also cover the question of why enter the #greenbusiness space and Farah shares if the trigger moment when she knew there needed to be a call for change. When we caught up with Farah she was entering her first round of fundraising after starting the company with personal seed money and a government grant. We also cover the unique process to hire riders that will fulfill the mission in rain or shine – ok, this is London – so in rain or rain.
Prior to ‘cycling into action’, Farah had a successful career within property development and real estate. She trained as an interior architect at the Mount Vernon School of Design in Washington DC. And then specialized in the renovation of London apartments. Farah’s desire to improve living conditions continued with her focus turning to our environment, a cause which Farah has been passionate about all her life.
