Jess and Sarah sit down with Paul and Jennifer, an American couple, who decided to move to Scotland after falling in love with it on their honeymoon! They chose to live in the small, historic village of Culross, which is also known for serving as a filming location on Outlander. They own a picturesque home that in the show, belonged to
    Laoghaire Mackenzie!

They were also featured on an episode of House Hunters International titled 'Haunted in Scotland.' Paul and Jennifer have embraced the Outlander effect and enjoy interacting with tourists who visit the village. They are among the four Americans who live in Culross. The locals have mixed feelings about the tourism and filming, but it has brought income to the local businesses. In this conversation, Jennifer and Sarah discuss their experience living in the village of Culross, which served as the filming location for the fictional town of Cranesmuir in the TV show Outlander. They talk about the history and charm of the village, the impact of Outlander on tourism, and their encounters with Outlander fans.

    23:40 Elizabeth Adams Interview

In a wee village called Falkland in Fife, Scotland, the story of Outlander has forever changed the lives of the people who live there. Known for being the backdrop of the first episode, Falkland is staged to be 1940's Inverness and the opening scenes set the tone for this incredible story.

The Fayre Earth Gift shop is the location used to portray Farrell's General Store, the shop where Claire longingly looks at a blue vase and reflects on how different her life could have been, had she chosen to purchase it and make a home for it.

Jess and Sarah chatted with the owner of the Fayre Earth Gift Shop, Elizabeth Adams. Elizabeth shares the experience of first being contacted by a set scout about being a filming location for an upcoming tv show, about 11 years ago. In our interview, we were able to hear a firsthand account of a resident of Falkland as to what it was like to have this production happening on the streets.

Elizabeth also discusses the cosmetic changes made to her shop for the show and the impact of Outlander on tourism in Falkland. She shares the items she sells in her shop, including fair trade and locally made products, and the charity work she does with the proceeds.

Elizabeth also shares some funny and memorable stories of Outlander fans visiting her shop.

Find Elizabeth's shop on Instagram and Facebook and dm her to find out more about her products!

A Weekly Outlander Treat!

Every week, Sarah and Jessica deliver such an enjoyable podcast getting us through a very long droughtlander. Andy the Highlander was no exception! And, yes, Outlander does indeed foster friendships in the most unlikely of places. I joined an online book club at the beginning of the pandemic and these women have become my people. Since members are from all over the country(and out!), trips have happened to meet up. I’m attending my first convention this summer with 6 of the ladies, overseas then going to Scotland! A dream come true. Thank you Diana Gabaldon for this special world.
