Episode 119: Toni Pressley & Leading With Kindness

“How is this still going on? It’s hard for me to understand how people don’t live with compassion, don’t live with the need to be kind.”

On this week’s episode of the Eat Green Make Green Podcast, I sit down with the one and only Toni Pressley. Toni is professional soccer player for the Orlando Pride, a breast cancer survivor, and vegan. We talk about the current status of US women’s professional soccer, what it’s like in Orlando right now during the pandemic, her path to becoming a pro soccer player, how a cancer diagnosis last year caught by surprise, how she overcame it and got back on the field in a matter of months, how the experience has changed her perspective, what she’s learned from being in a relationship with worldwide soccer legend Marta Vieira da Silva, her take on the current conversation around race, and her experience as a black woman in the US. This is a beautiful conversation about life, strength, and compassion. Not only is Toni a world-class athlete, she is also a shining light and a force for good in a world that can often feel unkind.

Episode 115: Ana + Matt & Redefining Success

“Think about what you want your life to look like. To me success is waking up in the morning without an alarm, enjoying my coffee and a book, doing my thing and making people happy.”

Episode 114: Carissa Kranz & Banning Global Wet Markets

“It can happen in New York, it can happen in California, it can happen in Chicago. It can happen anywhere there’s a live wet market… it can happen in any factory farm or slaughterhouse.”

On this week’s episode of the Eat Green Make Green Podcast, I sit down with the fantastic Carissa Kranz. Carissa is an award-winning attorney, former professional ballet dancer, and the founder vegan certification company BeVeg. This week Carissa filed a petition at the state level in New York to ban all live animal wet markets and set a precedent for the rest of the world. We talk about Carissa’s career path from professional ballet dancer to lawyer, why she started BeVeg, the most recent petition she filed to ban the New York wet markets, why wet markets and slaughterhouses pose a continued threat to human health around the globe, why many of our basic civil liberties are being violated due to meat, and the importance of acting now to protect global human and planetary health.
