Welcome. If you’re a woman who has a sense there’s more out there for you in your life, I’ve got you. You’re in the right place.

I’m Whitney Baker, host of Electric Ideas. Somewhere along the line with work and kids, life carried on, but I lost track of my truth. I felt like something was missing. Like my energy was splintered and I was trapped reacting to a flurry of outside demands.

I’m on a reflective journey and that’s what this podcast is about. We talk about ideas, practices, and habits that help women get back to their heart center and live more fulfilling lives.

Each week, I interview a woman who is lighting her own path. Before our conversation ends, we’ll share a reflective question for you to ponder, chat with your gal pals about, or even journal about if you’re so inclined.

I started this podcast because I know when women step into their fullest selves, the whole world benefits. Sometimes all we need is a jolt, a laugh, a fresh idea…an aha moment that connects us back to ourselves and our buried truths.

This my friends, is what I call an Electric Idea.

Mini Jolt - Feeling Stuck? Here's How to Break Free

Mini Jolt - Feeling Stuck? Here's How to Break Free

Every woman feels stuck or stagnant at some point in her life.

Many years ago, Whitney quit her glossy but taxing job at a creative agency to focus more on motherhood and keep a toe in the professional waters with freelance work.

She thought this dramatic change would rinse away all the stress and confusion she’d encountered while establishing her equilibrium as a mom who also desired professional and creative expansion.

But after leaving her company with the hope of a blissfully balanced life, she felt more confused than ever. She was deeply relieved to release the pressure of her previous job and have more time with her girls, yet mourned adult conversations that went beyond what vegetables everyone's kids were eating. She also missed the energy of collaboration and being in a creative environment. For a long time, she marinated in a feeling of being stuck in the murky middle - of closing the door on a major part of her identity but not quite yet stepping into the next version of herself she craved.

When a mentor asked Whitney a pivotal question, she was finally able to start making changes in her life that invited in momentum and flow again. Listen to today’s episode to hear about this important reflection and learn how to move past feeling stuck and stagnant in your life.

Embrace a Minimal-ish Summer: Your Guide to Simple, Joyful Living with Desirae Endres

Embrace a Minimal-ish Summer: Your Guide to Simple, Joyful Living with Desirae Endres

When people think of "minimalism," they often imagine an elusive, picture-perfect room straight out of Pinterest or a wardrobe limited to a capsule collection. But, as Whitney's guest Desirae Endres, the host of The Minimal-ish Podcast, reveals, minimalism is all about cutting through the noise and clutter to make space for what truly counts in life. And this is especially true for summer time when we feel pressured to fill our entire schedules with activities and things to do with our kids.

In their conversation, Desirae breaks down the four pillars of 'minimal-ish' living: reducing the stuff in our lives, aligning our daily actions with our core values, clearing the mental clutter, and striving for contentment. Whitney and Desirae explore how to put these principles into action to craft a summer that's both memorable and deeply satisfying, particularly for families.

Desirae offers practical tips for planning summer adventures, finding joy in the every day, and staying present without succumbing to the pressure to overdo it. She also shares strategies for creating a 'more and less' list to prioritize meaningful activities and reminds us to question the motivations driving our choices.

Here's what you can look forward to in today’s episode:
Defining minimal-ish living The 4 pillars of minimal-ish living How to plan a minimal-ish summer that is still full of memories Romanticizing summer days What Desirae has gained from living a more minimal-ish lifestyle Reflection question to ponder: Why do I feel like I need to be doing this?
