I grew up poor so I'm pretty sure this has a lot to do with me defining my self-worth as my networth.

I was always a leader and I had a lot of friends as a child growing up but I vividly remember when I was about 8 years old when I was being treated blatantly, not on my character or on who I was but because of what I *didn't have.

Recently a "demon" had resurfaced and it was that I wasn't worthy because of my money situation. I had to think about where this came from and it started back to when I was 8 years old...when a group of friends had stopped being my friend because of what I (didn't) have. They flocked to a friend of mine that was rich and she had the latest toys and brand name clothing and lived in a big house.

It would have been one thing if my friends had stopped being my friend because I wasn't a nice person but it had nothing to do with that...it was only because this other friend had nicer toys and brand name clothes.

Interestingly enough this same friend who had become more popular because of (what she had), she would always copy me. I hated her copying me...this included taking all of my friends (that I was friends with first and had made a group of friends with from the get-go) and she took them and they became her friends and no longer mine. Ooof! Writing this I can feel the pain and injustice all over again...

Let's stop treating ourselves like an item with a price tag and instead like the priceless treasures that we are because we are just that...priceless treasures.
