Episode 156: Are My Kids Safe at Home? Checklist The Speaking Out on Sex Abuse Podcast

    • Education

Countless sexual abuse victims are not safe in their own homes. Over 60% of sexual abuse survivors are abused by someone related to them in their home. When the majority of abuse happens by a close family member or friend, how can we ensure our homes are safe for our children.

One of the most traumatic things for a child is to have the safety of their own home stripped from them. Many adult survivors of abuse still live in constant anxiety and fear when they enter their own homes because of the abuse they endured in their homes as children. This should never be. It certainly shouldn't be the norm.

In this episode, we offer some practical things to check to help ensure children are safer in our home. There is no fail safe method to keep them safe all the time, but we can certainly do better. We NEED to do better.
