    Beckie Duncan Haynes recently released her first book, From Pain to Promise: A Survivor’ Guide To Overcoming Domestic Violence. In the book, Mrs. Haynes shares how she was able to transform her experience with domestic violence and turn it into a profound journey of self-discovery and personal growth.

    J. Monique Gambles is a licensed marriage and family therapist, in Irving, Texas. She received her bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Texas, at Arlington in 1998. She completed her Master of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Woman’s University, Denton in 2018. She also has her master’s in business administration, education, and fine arts.  

    Prior to becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, she taught Reading and English for 19 years and coached girls high school basketball and track & field. She has published six books: Three novels, two poetry books, and a Novella. 

     In 2023, she created a digital Magazine, The Truth About Sisterhood to encourage women from various backgrounds to explore the need for community, compassion, and understanding, while navigating intersectionality. Her goal is to break down barriers and stereotypes so that ALL women can coexist in a global sisterhood.

    Dope conversation with Caazena P. Hunter. Caazena Hunter is the Director of Program Design for Young Leaders Strong City. She holds a dual B.A. in Spanish and Sociology, with an International Studies Certificate, from the University of Tulsa, and an M.A. in Sociology from the University of North Texas. She co-authored Race and Reciprocity: Inter-household Exchanges in a Multiracial Neighborhood.

    Caazena began her career as a teaching fellow at the University of North Texas, which led to her teaching various Sociology courses at colleges and universities throughout the DFW Metroplex. She has a passion for learning, as well as teaching. She taught elementary Spanish, worked as a Research Analyst, census enumerator, and financial coach. She led the implementation of a community college based family financial center, and assisted in development and implementation of a Financial Coaching Institute training financial coaches on financial education, financial coaching, as well as cultural humility as it pertains to finances. Caazena, recently transitioned from her role as the Head of Community Engagement for Change Machine.

    Finally, Caazena is a lover of art, travel, music and food. She has always considered herself an aunt extraordinaire with ten nieces and nephews, and four great nieces and nephew, and a pandemic issued puppy niece named Free.     Sandra Smith is the Founder and Co-Director of Brittany’s Backpack Ministry which was founded in 2009. The purpose and passion behind the ministry are to honor the life and legacy of Brittany Nicole Smith who passed at the age of 8 from Asthma. In memory of Brittany, who was incredibly generous and fond of school, we provide food, school supplies, and other much-needed resources as well as sponsoring and hosting community events in our and other under-resourced communities.  Our future goals include widening our reach of service to other communities and other states.
