Every one of us has a stage. But so often, the problem we face is feeling like we have to choose between work and home. In other words, it’s our loved ones who get what’s leftover—either from a long day at the office, or being home with the kids. Yet, the more connected you are to your family, the more influence—and fun—you have on your respective stage.
The Famous at Home podcast helps you become a rockstar in your own home. Our topics and discussions help leaders avoid the pitfalls of success, set healthy rhythms between work and home, and build a rock solid marriage. Because the greatest red carpet you’ll ever walk, is through your front door.
236. Flex Your Joy Muscles
Have you ever been in a place where, when asked how you're doing, your tendency was to lead with the stuff that wasn't going well? The negative emotions. The painful circumstances. The things you wish were different. Maybe you're there now. Or maybe you know someone who does this. We all have, especially in the times we're living in.
If we see life through these "glass half empty" lenses, our spouse and kids will feel it. So will everyone else around you. In this episode, Josh and Christi talk about the daily practice of cultivating joy and celebrating what's good. Inspired by a t-shirt Josh received as a birthday present from his friends at Walk in Love, this episode is all about learning how to "Flex Your Joy Muscles" and begin seeing your life with the glass half full.

235. A Day in the Life of the Straubs with Janae Torgeson
As we continue our series on a "new year, new life," we have a special guest to help us answer a listener's question about the reality of practical daily rhythms of the Straub family. In this episode, Josh and Christi sit down with their family assistant, Janae Torgeson, to talk about what a day in the life with the Straub family looks like. Talking about what has and has not worked, our hope is that you can take away some practical ideas for your family.
Josh, Christi, and Janae talk about:
* The beauty in trial and error and how it's helpful to keep trying new rhythms until you find what works for your family.* Why it's important to recognize other currencies than money.* The impact the atmosphere of your home has on your family, and how to cultivate an environment that is life giving.* How to benefit from changing our attitudes away from: "I have to do this," to "I get to do this."

234. Abundance > Scarcity in 2022
One of the biggest lies we tell ourselves is that we don't have enough. We don't have enough time, rest, or money to do everything we need. What would it look like for you to leave behind a mindset of scarcity, and move forward with a mindset of abundance in 2022?
In this episode, Josh and Christi talk about the ripple effects each of these mindsets have on our marriage, our kids, our work environments, and with those we get to do life with. The mindset of abundance shifts the atmosphere of your home in the opposite direction of scarcity. Neither of these mindsets are about how much of something we do or do not have, but our attitude toward what we've been given.
Josh and Christi talk about:
* The power of the tongue and how our words dictate what we believe.* The importance of embracing simplicity over complexity.* Creating daily rhythms and how to prioritize working from rest and not for it.* The power in knowing what you really want. * Why embracing silence is crucial for living in abundance.

231. Habits of the Household with Justin Whitmel Earley
Have you ever put your kids to bed feeling like you failed them? Maybe in your attitude or how you acted toward them? Justin Whitmel Earley noticed some patterns in his own life and started to question the kind of influence he was leaving on his kids in the trenches of day-to-day life, or what he calls the liturgies of the day.
We all have a liturgy in how we live our lives. The question is whether our attitudes and actions as parents support the lessons we teach. In this episode, Justin Whitmel Earley is back on the podcast to talk about his new book Habits of the Household, and what it looks like to discover simple habits and daily rhythms for your family.
Josh and Justin talk about:
* How to live in congruence between what you teach and how you live as you parent your kids and live life at home in the trenches.* The spiritual impact of habits functioning as liturgy, and how it freed Justin's life from anxiety.* The power in implementing a liturgy of presence over absence in your home.

Listen, Laugh, Learn, Be encouraged
One of my top two favorite podcasts. I’ve gathered great parenting advice, as well has significantly helpful marriage/relationship knowledge and awareness. Our three-year-old loves your “What Am I Feeling” book, and our family has been truly blessed by your Advent family experience book for two Christmases now. Your engagement with Holy Spirit is truly apparent in the good, authentic word you deliver. You’ve counseled me for hours as I do the mom hustle all over Williamson county. If you ever see a woman in a maroon minivan smiling and crying, it might be me listening in. so grateful for your work and obedience to His calling.
I only wish I had found this podcast sooner. It is not easy to find a parenting resource that contains both sound biblical teaching and up to date psychology. My husband and I have both been very encouraged by this podcast, it has led to really productive discussions and changes in our home. Highly recommend!
“Show up as a better version of you.”
The content Josh and Christi project is applicable to anyone. I have listened to a dozen of their episodes and have taken away something useful in each. The seasons change and their content stays current and applicable. As a single mother having this resource is very helpful as we are on the go balancing life I take time on my drive to/from work to listen to an episode and apply the content in my week ahead. Thank you both and your family!
