☕ I worked in a cafe for 7 years, and I learned that cafes are where some of the most interesting people hang out. The people with unique opinions, odd beliefs, and fascinating lifestyles. The people who are changing the world.

This got me thinking of how cool it would be to have a cafe where the most interesting people would come in, and you could have crazy conversations over a cup-of-joe.

This is where I got the idea for Coffee with Klingman.

So WELCOME to my café of interesting conversations with unique individuals, about important, absurd, and controversial topics.

My Near Death Experience w/ Alex Hill - Coffee with Klingman

My Near Death Experience w/ Alex Hill - Coffee with Klingman

Alex Hill had a near-death experience at the age of 27, which was a culmination of stress and confusion from working in a fast-paced environment and not listening to his inner voice. His heart stopped for two minutes while working out with his personal trainer in the Equinox Gym in Manhattan. He saw his spirit leave his body and had to choose between ascending to the heavenly realms or getting back into his body and changing his way of life. This experience awakened him to spirituality firsthand, which he had never experienced before even after experimenting with substances at parties.

    TIMESTAMPS:
Near-Death Experience: "My spirit came out of my body and I was looking down at a dead corpse."
    — Alex Hill [00:00:37 → 00:02:33]
Near Death Experiences: "White light at the end of the tunnel is what's described in most near death experiences, and then either Buddha or Jesus, depending if the person is in a Christian country or Asian country. Right. So there's these commonalities that you'll find in the near death experience, and I definitely experienced similar."
    — Alex Hill [00:02:43 → 00:04:19]
Overcoming Distrust of Authority: "It's this distrust of authority, and it could be good and it can be bad. And I've had to do a lot of work around this of understanding how to respect police after getting beat up by police, understanding how to really honor veterans and to be in a place of just reverence and being human, right?"
    — Alex Hill [00:06:28 → 00:08:33]
Authority vs Control: "I'm not sure if I fully accept authority because there's a fine line between authority and control, power over or power with. Right. And a lot of the authority and a lot of the control that's happening in governments and on this planet right now is crossing that line."
    — Alex Hill [00:09:26 → 00:10:25]
Healing through Plant Medicine: "For veterans with PTSD or anybody that has a lot of trauma or some really deep stuff that they want to work through, these plants and these mushrooms are truly our allies, and they can really assist us if they're being held in a safe space and a really safe container."
    — Alex Hill [00:11:52 → 00:14:35]
The Great Awakening: "Our healing is our responsibility, right? And even if we have PTSD and we went to war, we got one life to live in this lifetime, right? So we got one life to live. And once you have access to the medicines that are available and you have the opportunity to heal, why wouldn't you do it?"
    — Alex Hill [00:16:25 → 00:19:23]
Following your intuition: "I basically set sail to the wind and started to really live from my heart and my spirit and my intuition."
    — Alex Hill [00:20:41 → 00:24:42]
Exploring Unconventional Career Paths: "At 21 years old, I was like, I really don't know. And it almost just felt like this pressure of like, okay, if I pick a career in communications or business or economics, I have to be an economist, or I have to be like so obviously that's not true."
    — Alex Hill [00:25:09 → 00:27:55]
Cultivating Gratitude: "The gratitude that we can have for life is infinite and never ends. And a good day to me is when I wake up grateful, and then I experience more gratitude, and my gratitude deepens for different aspects of my life as things go on."
    — Alex Hill [00:28:18 → 00:31:48]
"The Importance of Physical Fitness for Men: 'If I'm not strong in my body, there's not much I can do.'"
    — Alex Hill [00:32:30 → 00:33:52]

    TIMESTAMPS:
The Painful Reality of Being an Entrepreneur: "Just simply having a good idea and building it out well is not nearly enough... getting a team to be bought in on the vision and the mission and the core values of the company that help rally behind you to create something substantial - that is an art and a science."
    — Matt Schneider [00:06:43 → 00:10:27]
Marriage, Stress, and Superpowers: "Being very even keeled and being able to keep a level head and make clear decisions under stress is obviously critically important. And so that is part of my superpower."
    — Matt Schneider [00:11:02 → 00:13:43]
Navigating Uncertainty: "We didn't understand back then that we were really living in a box with a glass ceiling over it as far as what our potential was."
    — Matt Schneider [00:14:23 → 00:16:30]
The Cost of Being Inauthentic: "It really absolutely boiled down to me being an ineffective leader. And I was learning that taking the fake it to you, make it path and not being authentic was not serving me or anybody else well."
    — Matt Schneider [00:16:44 → 00:19:22]
Changing Your Circumstances: "If we don't like our circumstances, we truly have the power and control to change them."
    — Matt Schneider [00:27:49 → 00:32:17]
Personal transformation: "I developed core values, non negotiable core values, which is a lens that I filter everything through. And I knew if I was 60 pounds overweight and I was driving through fast food and Taco Bell and McDonald's and was talking skinny but eating fat, we all know that shit's not good for you."
    — Matt Schneider [00:32:41 → 00:35:32]
"The Importance of Putting Yourself First in a Relationship: You're able to actually show up for the people that you love and the people that love you the most in the biggest, most substantial, positive ways if you yourself are whole. First."
    — Matt Schneider [00:36:07 → 00:39:24]
"Attraction and Weight: 'There's no way that as a fat body...my wife didn't like that wasn't attractive to her.' - Quote by unknown speaker"
    — Matt Schneider [00:39:54 → 00:42:31]
The Importance of Leveraging Zones of Genius in Business and Marriage: "And one of my favorite quotes is if you help other people get what they want, you will get what you want in return. And when I realized that, it just became a matter of my wife has incredible talent and zones of genius that I don't have that are necessary to success in business."
    — Matt Schneider [00:46:54 → 00:50:09]
The Importance of Impact Over Legacy: "I don't care about legacy because I don't care if people remember my name, if I can help people in the most positive ways, right?...I focus on impact regardless of if they know where it came from."
    — Matt Schneider [00:53:17 → 00:59:14]

    Quotes:

From Drugs to Millionaire: "Opportunity precedes personal development. And once you have an opportunity, you get turned on. You'll start reading the books, you'll get up early, you'll stay up late, you'll make the phone calls, you'll do whatever it takes." - Kyle Wilson

    — Kyle Wilson [00:00:50 → 00:03:22]

Scaling Jim Rohn's Business: "Jim, listen, I think you're the best speaker in the world. I'm a pretty good promoter. I would love to have an exclusive with you. And here's what I'll do. I'll pay for everything, and I'll pay you off the top so we don't have to worry about splitting the profit, because that's not worked out too well. I'll just pay you off the top, right? You'll give me the exclusive."

    — Kyle Wilson [00:03:22 → 00:06:36]

Creating a Winning Culture: "I think the reason I'm most proud of that is that was not part of my skill set...I tried to delegate, but really relegate. And this happens a lot we relegate things in the spirit of only do what you're good at, and we abdicate responsibility sometimes for things that really are core competencies."

    — Kyle Wilson [00:06:58 → 00:09:53]

How Meeting Jim Rohn Changed Kyle Wilson’s Life: "The thing about goals is, no matter what goals you could have set, you would have never known you were going to meet Jim Rohn. We can't predict how it's going to turn out because we don't know how it's going to turn out. You could have never predicted you had met Jim Rohn. And I think about that all the time." -Kyle Wilson

    — Kyle Wilson [00:11:35 → 00:16:51]

The Importance of Knowing Your Numbers: "When I know my numbers, things work. When I don't know my numbers, they don't work... There's something magical about knowing your numbers." - Kyle Wilson

    — Kyle Wilson [00:18:17 → 00:21:23]

The Power of Value Creation: "If you want to be successful, learn to bring value to the marketplace. If you want to be wealthy, learn to be valuable to valuable people."

    — Kyle Wilson [00:23:58 → 00:25:34]

Building Business Platforms: "And a lot of times and I've watched this in my business, I watched it in seminar business. I've watched it in every other business. 20 years goes by and there's two kinds of results. There's the person that's always hunting and churning through people. They're not relational oriented, they're transactional oriented. And then there's those that have learned to bring value and build platforms and fish. And what happens with their business, it compounds. It compounds over time."

    — Kyle Wilson [00:25:56 → 00:28:06]

"The Power of the Wheel in Business Strategy": "You don't need 100 spokes. Sometimes you just need three or four or five. And so my criteria for spokes get down to number ones. What's my secret sauce? What makes me special and unique?"

    — Kyle Wilson [00:28:16 → 00:33:04]

How to Build Your Personal Brand: "I want a mystique. I want a brand. So when they go there, I coach a lot of real estate investors. I don't want a picture of a bunch of apartments. I want to see you because people buy you what makes you unique."

    — Kyle Wilson [00:33:05 → 00:35:33]

Owning Your Story: "And I'm like, Dude, you got to quit diminishing your story because you can help people. [...] it actually makes you stronger when you come to that place. That your reasons. Your purpose is bigger than the things, the resistance we have of being judged, and it's almost like you let go of your ego."

    — Kyle Wilson [00:36:08 → 00:39:43]
