Today I had the great honor to interview Dan Hodges.

Dan is an activist dedicated to assisting others with disabilities and chronic illnesses reach their full potential. While in law school, Dan founded Pieces of Me Foundation; a nonprofit organization that promotes universal access and inclusion. It’s a foundation that is comprised of disabled and disability allied people, with a strong empowerment centric philosophy.

The mission is clear, access can no longer be a request, but it must be a mandate; and not a second thought, but built in. People who are disabled cannot fight for a piece of the pie, it must grow the pie large enough so all people with disabilities are included.

Dan’s perspective has been shaped by his experience as a blind man with chronic pain and other conditions. He has spent a lifetime surpassing the low expectations placed before him, and his personal calling is to help others do the same.

Today I want to introduce an amazing woman: Sarah Woodworth

After witnessing her Father's murder, she was diagnosed with leaning disabilities, PTSD, depression and anxiety. Witnessing chemical dependency in her home, being placed in a group home as a teenager, she decided no one but herself was allowed to be responsible for limiting her anymore! There were times she lost everything including electricity and shelter while taking care of her child. She noticed though that as long as she was trying her best and following her heart, no matter how hard things got, each time she lost everything, she was always rewarded later for the difficult road she chose vs being comfortable and accepting abuse.

Sarah is now a Public Speaker and in the process of releasing her first book, The Reality Designer. 

Sarah's mission is it provide inspirational stories along with the tools needed to turn anyone's dream into their reality.

Her professional world took a leap from the predictable and defined realm of private banking in New York City to one of few answers and no blueprint when her son, 21-year-old Brandon, was diagnosed with a rare form of dwarfism at the age of 2. Their experiences navigating a world not built for somebody like him prompted them to seek out ways to neither be confined nor defined by limitations, perceived or otherwise.
