    In the episode, “Getting Better with Data”, we are joined by Xuedi Li, a data analyst in the Child Health Evaluative Sciences Program at The Hospital for Sick Children. She will be discussing her research with TARGet Kids, the largest primary care research network for children in Canada, which aims to help assess the impact of COVID-19 on Canadian children’s physical and mental health. We will also hear Xuedi speak about her experience as an epidemiologist and her advice for aspiring data analysts in this field.

    Xuedi Li is a data analyst in the Child Health Evaluative Sciences Program at The Hospital for Sick Children, with a background in pediatric epidemiology. She works with a group called TARGet Kids, the largest primary care research network for children in Canada. She is passionate about improving the health of Canadian children through the prevention of chronic disease and obesity in early childhood. Xuedi’s current research focuses on helping to assess the impact of COVID-19 on Canadian children’s physical and mental health.

Curtis is a graduate of British Columbia’s Institute of Technology from the Computer Science Technology Program and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from South Korea. Nowadays, he works for a Vancouver software company as a Computer Software Engineer carrying out full-stack responsibilities.

    At the start of the pandemic, Curtis created several web applications to track COVID-19 data and provide the public with detailed information about the cases, particularly within Canada and the United States. Initially, he dedicated 48 hours straight developing the platform from scratch and many countless hours since to source ways for people to have a greater awareness of this worldwide health issue. In the last nine months, with a lot of media coverage in Canada and Korea, his site has provided valuable, up-to-date information to millions of viewers.

    Shrey Jain is an Engineering Science student from the University of Toronto, He is the founder and president of FLATTEN -- an international not-for-profit focused on facilitating data-driven solutions, to support communities’ fight against COVID-19. Shrey works in the Machine Learning for Health Research Group, at the Vector Institute of Technology, as well as competes for age group Team Canada Triathlon.
