What do you do when you end up in a relationship that is unhealthy, toxic, and abusive? Today I am joined by a close friend who recently went through it.

I’ve been through it too. And today I get to chat with Kelsey about our stories and how we navigated situations no one ever wants to find themselves in. We talk about:

-What attracted us to the men who ended up almost breaking us

-The early red flags that we ignored or didn’t recognize

-The moments we realized how bad our situations were (our “oh shit” moments)

    -Signs of an unhealthy relationship

    -How we got out

-What helped and what hurt as we healed and moved on

If you feel that you are in an unhealthy relationship I hope this episode will help you find the information, strength, and courage you need to remove yourself and look toward a brighter future.

    Resources from this episode:

Thought Catalog: Hate to Break It To You But There is No Such Thing as “The One.”

    Quotes from this episode:

“Holding fast to ideas about how unfortunate our breakup is and how much we need or want our ex keep us holding on fast to the past.”

“No relationships end because they are working so well and serving both people. It was imperative that this breakup happen so that you could both go on to happier lives and better relationships in the future.”

“You already have everything that you need to be happy and whole right inside of you.”

“The idea that there is “the one” or a “soulmate” for us is destructive. It leads people to make poor decisions and to stay in unhealthy relationships. It prevents people from being their own soulmates and investing in building a life that is rich with or without a partner.”

“The more honest you can be with yourself and the more responsibility you can take over your healing the more success you will have.”

🎬🍸Happy hour!! Friends With Benefits (the movie!) (194) 🎬🍸

🎬🍸Happy hour!! Friends With Benefits (the movie!) (194) 🎬🍸

Pour a drink and get ready to talk shit about a **really** horrible rom-com! If you ever thought friends with benefits seemed impossible to pull off this movie will make you hate the idea, cringe, and think twice about even leaving the house again.

I think this movie sucks. I am joined by friends Brian and Dessi to chat about what they think as well. Do Justin Timberlake and Mila have good chemistry? Is it permissible to keep socks on during sex? Relieve yourself in front of someone you want to have sex with?

We’ve got opinions on it all.

Want to hear the actual truth about friends with benefits? Check out episode 193 - ‘Friends with benefits.’

Heartbroken

I wanted to share that your podcast definitely helped me a bit. Four days ago my girlfriend broke up with me completely out of the blue. We had planned to move in together at the end of the summer, and I had already started moving my things into her place. We have met each other’s families, and told each other that we were completely in love. Everything seemed really great. Thank you again for helping, and giving me some tips on how to heal. ❤️

Helping me process my break up.

Your podcast is so informative. You hit so many topics that are so helpful is navigating through this time. You’ve helped me realize that it is normal to feel what I’m home through and I am allowed to take this time to grieve and work on a stronger relationship with myself. I started listening to you yesterday and today was the first day I didn’t cry in weeks.

Amazing advice and truly a lifesaver for me! ♥️

I love this podcast and Janice! I started listening last year after going through a very traumatic and devastating breakup💔 I learned there are not very many places to turn when you go through a breakup and you feel so isolated. Because we all feel so alone or sometimes uncomfortable accepting it, it is such a blessing this podcast exists. This podcast has been such a huge part of my healing journey and a true life changer. The empathy and compassionate tone of this podcast alone makes it unique as you almost feel you are listening to a friend talk to you. I feel so motivated, inspired and greatful from the first time I hit play to now. I was inspired by it to get coaching with Janice and move forward and it’s the best decision I ever made. Thank you Janice for creating this podcast to let people know they are not alone after a devastating breakup ❤️‍🩹 To all future listeners hit play you truly won’t regret it.
