Welcome to Soma-BodyTalks, a podcast dedicated to brings us closer, teach us to listen and connect with our inner experience.

Hosted by somatic psychotherapist, teacher and heart mover Dana B. Fernandes.

We live in a world of division that so often also separates our bodies and our hearts/minds.
When we hurt in our bodies, we go to a physical therapy and leave our emotions, and life experiences out the door.
We do the same the other way, when we are hurt emotionally, we so often sit and talk about our experiences, and leave our bodies out of the door.

I'm here to offer integration.

    Embracing Shame

    Embracing Shame

I know this theme will trigger some, but in my social media scrolling I keep seeing these messages:

"Let go of shame". Well, I actually think shame is essential!

Join me to learn the somatic psychology perspective, and why we should embrace our shame.

Please share with me your thoughts :)

Does your movement bring you closer or away from your inner experience?

Does your movement bring you closer or away from your inner experience?

Does our movement practice draw us closer to or further from our inner experience?
Movement has always been an integral part of my life. We all recognize the impact movement has on feeling better and its general effect on mental health.
But does it bring us closer to, or take us away from, our inner selves?

How to harness worthiness from within?

How to harness worthiness from within?

After such a long time, it feels so good to be back.

Many women come to my practice with a lack of connection and understanding of their inner experiences.

Their emotions, sensations, needs, and heartfelt desires feel distant to them. We spend hours building this bridge back. Many of them hold the belief that it's not important – not important what they want, think, or feel.

    "It's so important,

    YOU ARE important,"

    I often reply.

You ask I answer - How to manage a moment of trigger?

You ask I answer - How to manage a moment of trigger?

I got this question recently from a client and I thought it was worth sharing it here as well.

My answer is partly based on The Bodyknot - a communication module from the Bodynamic system I simply love,

It made so much order and sense in my personal life and experience, and I use it, in many ways, with my clients.

In this link, you could find a graph for the short version of this module.
