From Creating the First Female Cleats to Ensuring Equality, with Laura Youngson

The Engage Nation Podcast

It’s time for episode 5 of our Women’s World Cup series, and today we’re joined by Laura Youngson.

Laura’s always held a passion for entrepreneurship, she’s the CEO and co-founder at Ida Sports & a Co-Founder of Equal Playing Field, she also holds multiple world records to her name.

It was after completing one of these world records, a football match held at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, where Laura realized football boots were made for men and left women in pain, so she set off to create boots tailor made for women.

Since launching their first product in 2020 Ida's boots have taken over the world and they're only just getting started.
In this chat we cover:

  • Why we need more qualitative data into ACL tears in the women’s game
  • How creating a unisex boot is a step in the right direction, but doesn’t address the root problem
  • Pushing for more women to become entrepreneurs
