Best Holiday Novelty or Parody Song

Most holiday pop songs tend to be joyful, energetic, or heartwarming, summoning nostalgia for the season and evoking what top scientists have defined as “feeling that gingerbread feeling.” But the holiday music canon is also peppered with bizarre little tunes that play up the ridiculous traditions we largely take for granted, or mock the treacly emotionalism of Christmas. 2024 marks the 35th Anniversary of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, the third installment in Chevy Chase’s Lampoon films. While the film was initially met with mixed reviews when it was released in December 1989, it has gone on to be considered a holiday classic, delighting audiences from multiple generations. I first listened to this show about a month ago and it's been a go-to ever since. These debates are the best kind: where it's less about proving someone else wrong and more about just having fun and sharing stories. The panelists' anecdotes about their past experiences with songs, foods, shows, etc. etc. always bring something specific and thoughtful to the discussion. Even if you disagree about the final decision regarding the best Animal Crossing character, Madonna song, or whatever the topic may be, it's still great to hear where everyone is coming from. The host Eric in particular always does a very good job steering conversation and keeping the flow of discussion smooth and steady.
